Draft - Piney skunky hops. Clear gold with a rich white head. Pine, tropical fruit and a bitter finish. A bold beer without the balance I like in my IIPA.

This wet barrel offering is poured up on tap into a squat tulip glass at the Wilderness. It pours with a dark clear amber body that supports a thin white head. The mild aroma offers up faint vague sort of sweet dark fruity esters like grapes and cherries. It is tough to pick up much more than that. The taste is silky smooth as it is slippery with smooth bourbon sweetness that has a thickness that seems to defy a barrel treatment. Behind the bourbon are light yet nectar sweet cherry meat, dark grapes and sweet raisins as well as a touch of molasses. This is smooth and rich and yummy.

This dry barrel offering is poured up on tap into a squat tulip glass at the Wilderness. It pours with a dark clear amber body that supports a thin white head. The aroma offers big sweet bourbon along with vanilla and sweetened oak wood notes. The aroma just bursts out of the glass where I’m getting little of what is a modest base beer aroma. The taste begins with smooth bourbon notes rolling into sweet vanilla and a nice malt sweetened oak note. Well beneath the barrel treatment lurks faint murmurs of the base beer’s dark fruity ester notes. This could have less barrel contact time for me as the modest smooth supple base beer is nearly lost. The barrel though is smooth sweet goodness.

Draft - Light funky lemon. Cloudy yellow and no head. Light sour citrus with a clean salty citrus finish. I don’t get the grapefruit at all. An average version, don’t get the really contrasting sweet and tart.

Draft - Red vinous grape, caramel and cherry. Clear mahogany with no head. Lots of cherry, some tannin and bitterness and an orange and light alcohol finish. I am having trouble with this one, interesting and not sure if I like it or not. Inters

Draft - Coffee and vanilla, like the chocolate covered coffee beans. Jet black with a rich nitro beige head. Much more subdued than I expected. Still full of dark roast.

Draft - Golden malts and yeast. Clear gold with a thin white head. Banana and cloves with a touch of grassy hops. The esters and sweetness are held in check. Well crafted.

Draft - Toffee, grains and some nuts. Cloudy brown with a thin head. Toasted malts and nuts. Nice flavours, a little much for a true English bitter, but very well done.

Draft - Lots of grapefruit with a malt backbone. Clear orange with a thin head. Upfront bitterness, grapefruit pith all the way through. A little malt sweetness would have made this a great IPA.

Tap at brewery. A yummy barley wine that isn’t too sweet or boozy which is a nice surprise. Nose is vinous and toffee. Tastes of cab grapes for sure, caramel, cherries, some brown sugar, and light hop bitterness. Quite enjoyable.
