Clean and easy drinking lager. No flaws, which makes this rate pretty high up on the American pale lager front. Pours golden with ok head. Paper on the finish. Tap at Shelter.

Sample at the roost pours a translucent, nearing opaque, straw yellow with some lacey white head. Nose is grassy, vinous, starchy, sunflowers, orange. Flavor is very herbal and oily, a weird malt character, its fine. Some bite.

Straw and light honey. Not a lot to this, but inoffensive and clean on the finish at least. Tap at Shelter.

37.5cl bottle pours with a slightly hazy gold colored body that supports a tall rocky dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up unripe fruit, a bit of vinegar and then a sense of spicy oakiness. The taste delivers a fair degree of puckeriness as it starts with hints of apple and raspberry fruitiness growing into increasing levels of tartness. There's also a thin undercurrent of spicy oak woodiness leading to a bone dry finish. It doesn't reach that gueuze like twang I enjoy in Tilquin, Girardin and others.

Pint can pours with a slightly hazed deep copper colored body that has thin golden hued edges and supports a thin off white head of foam. The aroma offers up some plums, figs and dates as well as a bit of caramel like reduced sugars. The taste delivers fig, plum and date like sweet dark fruity esters intertwined with thin ribbons of sweet caramel. The sweetness is a little too forward and the flavors can benefit from further aging and blending. The rum barrel treatment adds further soft sherry like sweetness and note enough boozy heat to counter the sweet onslaught. All in all this is a nice sipper but on the sweet side.
