In Ordnung! Danke an Barak für das Bier! Test vom 21.3.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,9,9,8,11,9 - 8,85

50 cL bottle, thanks to DSG. Pours dark and hazy brown with a dense light brown head. Malty and light spiced aroma. Flavour is smooth malty, light acidic note and a spice flavour inbetween. Ends with a malt and a light acidic note. Continued spiced flavour into the finish.

0.5L bottle. Hazy deep yellow colour, medium sized dense long lasting head. Textbook weizen aroma, yeast, banana and wheat. Banana continues in the taste with a strong spicy presence, especially cinamon and nutmeg. Good bitterness at the end makes this beer quite refreshing and very good with seafood, went down excellent with a Shrimp and pickeld lemon risoto.

0.5L bottle. deep brown with some lighter streaks, rich malty aroma with some light leafy and yeasty notes. Strong flavours of roasted coffee and dark, rich, bitter chocolate, blended with some caramely swettness which isn’t overpowering. The body is suprisingly light for such a rich beer. Long and quite pleasant sweet and sour finish.

0.5L bottle, smaal stable head, hazy deep golden colour. Strong aroma pf malt with some flowey hoppy notes. Rich malty taste with some sweetness complented by a strong refreshing bitterness. The body is quite big for a pilesner and the beer seems more of a bohemian than a germal pilsener.

0.5L bottle. Small head, light amber brown colour, a little hazy, Strong and pronounced malty aroma with some notes of olives, yeast and stale bread at the back. Quite sweet and fruity in the mouth with a bitterness which is to strong, damaging the balance of the beer. Medium body and a short and mild aftertaste which leaves a dry and unpleasant senxsation in the throat.

Re-rate 3/21/11: Bottle. Hazy brown color with a huge creamy beige head. Aroma of toasted grains, caramel, fruits, some dark bread, yeast and some funky notes. Sweetish-sourish flavor of yeast, fruits, some malt and caramel and a sourish-bitter fruity finish. Medium-bodied. This beer is obviously infected and doesn’t taste how it should. The people who bought the Golan Brewery should worry less about re-branding and more about fixing their bad ol’ quality control. 5/4/5/3/10=2.7

Re-rate 9/28/08: Draught at the brewpub. Deep reddish Brown color with a small but stable beige head. Aroma of toasted, slightly roasted, malt, caramel and some pleasant dark fruits. Sweet malty flavor with dark bread, sugary notes, caramel, a bit of fruitiness and alcohol hints. Medium-bodied with a fluffy mouthfeel. Very pleasant when fresh. A well-made Doppelbock, it’s a shame the bottling line is so poor so every other bottle is at least slightly infected. 7/4/7/3/14=3.5

Bottle sample at a beer festival in Kibbutz Ma’abarot. Deep brown. Malty aroma with notes of roastiness and some smoky hints. Nice sweet flavor with firm dark maltiness, caramel, bread and some fruity notes. A sweet finish with maybe a bit of pepper. Medium-bodied. A good doppelbock. 7/4/7/4/15=3.7

Re-rate 11/7/07: Two weeks old growler (well, the bottle is smaller than a growler but same concept). Muddy brown color with no head. Aroma of wheat, banana, clove, malt a bit of caramel and a bit of alcohol. Flavor is sweet with wheat, yeast, lots of banana, some malt, some caramel, and alcohol in the finish. As the beer warms a bit the yeast character gets a bit more refined (it seemed a bit over the top at first), and more toasted bread taste starts to evoke. Medium-bodied. Still good, but not as good as before. I’m not gonna change the score since it’s not really fair to the beer. 7/3/7/3/14=3.4

Draught at the brewpub. When I came to the brewpub I was really expecting to taste one of their beers called "Bazelet" (Basalt), when I arrived I was dissapointed to find out that they ran out of it a week ago, and a new batch will be ready only in another month and a half. I got a bit less disappointed when I had this treat instead: Cloudy brown color. Aroma of wheat, malt, banana, some clove and caramel. Sweet flavor with wheat, yeast, fruits and very nice caramelly malts that get more prominent as the beer warms up a bit. A bit of alcohol and a bit of acidity in the finish. Medium-bodied with a nice mouthfeel. Very good stuff! 7/4/7/4/15=3.7

Re-rate 11/17/07: Bottle. Deep hazy amber with a medium creamy beige head. Malty aroma with some caramel, some toastiness and hints of hops. Sweet malt flavor with some toast, a bit of caramel and a bit of bread. Finish is drier with hints of metal. Light to medium body. Overall slightly bland but still ok. 6/4/5/2/12=2.9

Draught sample at the brewpub. Reddish amber color. Malty nose with notes of caramel and toast. Sweet malty flavor with caramel and some hints of metal (mostly in finish). Medium-bodied. OK. 6/3/6/3/12=3
