Sample at the ’Smoked Meats and Beer’ tasting on 05/27/2017. Slightly cloudy golden-amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of tropical fruit, hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of citrus, herbal hops and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a fruity hop aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Pours a rich black brown from a bottle, nice khaki head. Aroma is rich coffee with a faint toffee note. Flavor is a let down, kind of a robusta, Dunkin coffee flavor with some weird off-putting toffee, doesn’t mix well at all, like some flavored coffee that the baristas couldn’t get rid of so that’s what they gave to the brewer. Thin and cloyingly sweet, makes me think kahlua hangover. Okay beer.

16 oz. can. thanks to TJ on this one. yet another can with no date coding any place. Aroma is sweaty arm pits, weak pineapples chunks, grass. Flavor is pretty mellow. Reflections of the aroma. Pineapple is very mild, some grass, texture is a tad thin. I don’t mind it at all.

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a golden copper color with a thin transparency about it. Some carbonation could be seen rising at a decent pace to fill a finger’s worth of quickening foamy head. Messy ring of lace.
The aroma had some sweet dried wood, light peaches, some pine needles, and lime. Steady malt base.
The flavor copied the aroma pretty much spot on leaning towards the sweet side and sliding into a sly bitterness of the pine. Drying bitter piney to peachy sort of aftertaste. Finish was quick with some subtle piney dry bitterness.
The palate was about medium bodied with a steady sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, decent DIPA that I could go at again.
