Bottle picked up from Hoogvliet Steenovenweg, Supermarket near our hotel 2l de Blend, Utrecht, Thursday 8th January 2026 after a long train journey from Plattling today. Pours mid gold with a large white head, it's a bit on the sweet side and the abv is stronger than I expected, genuinely didn't think it was going to be 9% but here we are. Nice mouthfeel, soft with a spicy bitterness. Good.

On tap at Boot 122 Brouwcafe, Utrecht Thursday 8th January 2026 after a long train journey from Plattling today. This is a short walk 15mins from the hotel. Pours dark brown with a light beige coloured head. In keeping with the Bock they've really stuck to the style here, it's a solid dark lager, middling background bitterness that builds, light caramel touches. Nice mouthfeel, it just sticks to the script and does it well. Score 6.9

We visited here Monday 15th December 2025, in fact we have visited before to pick up some bottled beers at the via the hotel reception. We were quite surprised at just how busy this place was, ok there were clearly some Christmas work functions going on, however there were also a lot of families, couples etc here, we had to sit on the Stammtisch. It is a much bigger place than we first thought, the seating and room(s) that you can see from the road, is just a part, it stretches much further back and in fact much of the front part seemed to be empty whilst the rest of it was very busy. Btw it is located at the south eastern edge of the town, on the main road through the town, it is about 15-20 mins walk from the railway station. It looked like the exterior is being refurbished, btw you have to enter via the hotel entrance on the side street.

The brewery is located in this area, all shiny and copper looking. We had a wheat and a dunkel and interestingly these two have easily been the best beers that I have had from this brewery with the dunkel just slightly shading it. The food looked very good and they were flat out serving, staff were pleasant and I think that this is now by some margin our favourite venue in the town. There is a rustic farmhouse look with random farming implements hanging from the ceiling, stuffed animals here and there, this was a bit old hat, but regardless we both like the buzz of the place, it was friendly, beers reasonably priced and clearly a popular place.

Can picked up from Morrisons, Harwich, and consumed at home January 2026 watching Tales from The Loop on Amazon Prime. We had Burmese Meatballs for tea tonight. Pours black, with a small beige head. Aroma is big on chocolate and chocolate cookies or brownies and chocolate sponge cake, definitely cake on both the nose and in the mouth, it's a one trick pony but tbf it wasn't trying to be anything else. Score 7.0

Can picked up from Äpfel Getrankemarkt Moosburg and consumed at home Sunday 4th January 2026 after a 15km hike from home via Brotjackelreigel to Steinberg Skilift. We had Burmese Meatballs and Rice for tea, listening to Baxter Dury - Allbarone. Pours pitch black with a perfect sized tan head. Roasty bitterness on the nose but more subtle than expected. Roasty and bitter in the mouth, smooth, there's a little bit of creaminess but it's chocolate, little bitter cocoa. This is fab' score 8.1
