Wilfred Pinsent & Grandson is in Google as a beer shop but the main function seems to be drink in. It is a lovely little cafe bar at the North end of Mountsorrel. It really does exude a French cafe feel, and indeed much of the beers along the walls (for sale, I think, although some of them have faded labels and are gathering dust) are French and Belgian. It's crowded as hell, with yummy mummies and daddies and their pedigree dogs and children Sebastian and Arabella (this is Mountsorrel after all) but there is an absolutely gorgeous garden as well. The draft choice is decent for its size: Four keg beers (Polly's, Pressure Drop, Two by Two) and a handpull cider, plus about half a fridge full of craft goodies. It's not exactly my vibe but it's friendly and perhaps I shouldn't complain about crowds when the hospitality industry is in such peril. Worth trying if only for the fact it is unlike anywhere else in Leicestershire that I'm aware of anyway.

Keg draught at the Queens Road Tap, Leicester . Mid- to dark brown, alittle translucent with an uneven little khaki head. Lots of dark chocolate in the aroma with a little touch of chilli. The taste is sweet and spicy, overrun with chilli just the right amount of heat. It is lovely but dominates the profile completely. Medium body with carbonation on the heavy side. It's lacking complexity but a chilli head like me doesn't mind all that much. Worth a try for sure.

Keg draught at the Queens Road Tap, Leicester. Yellow orange, hazy with a small film of white head. Aroma... mmmm this is different. Spicy, almost smoky, with grapefruit hop notes shining through. Taste is similar. Some smoke, an almost meaty character, sweet then fading with a light hoppy bitterness. Light body heavily carbonated. Very different to the average pale. Worth seeking out.

Draught keg at the Queens Road Tap, Leicester. Apricot orange/yellow, hazy with a small white head. Muted aroma, a little bit of melon and citrus (I suppose I'm smelling cactus fruit but it's not very aromatic). Sour taste, a little salty with lots of this fruit to the fore. Light papaya character near the finish. Medium body with soft to medium carbonation. A nicely sour gose.

Keg draught from Tønne, Leicester. Mahogany/Amber and vlear with a small ring of off-white head. Sweet caramel aroma, stone fruit and some black grape. Taste is also sweet, an odd sort of seawater note both otherwise nice for the style, with a light malty bitterness in the finish. Very light body, heavy carbonation. Decent enough but maybe not one to seek out.
