Piney and resiny bitterness right in the tab. Pours a hazy brass with a sudsy head. Taste has big bitterness, a bit of citrus tartness to curl my tongue. Orange and tropical juice taste grows stronger as I go down deeper. There's even a suggestion of mint at work.

2003(?) 750 ml bottle. Opened on Christmas night, appropriately. Amber/brown pour, just a little fizz. Nose has a bit of Belgian tripel, not much sweetness, just some Belgian malt. Surprisingly pleasant taste for a 22 year old beer. Strong malts, just a hint of alcohol. Sipping it brings in a bit more of a cognac nose from the glass. Light texture on the lips; not a lot of stickiness. Of course there's not a lot of hop left, if there ever was much to start. Goes down nice and easy for a strong ale..

Deep brown color, slightly cloudy, under a pillowy white head. Kind of like the pre-Pro Brooklyn and Sam Adams lagers. Smell has a bit saison to it: unfiltered yeast and some toasted Minnesota wild rice. The rice and yeast come out in the taste too. Dry malty taste, very little sweetness. A bit of bitterness on the edges of the tongue.

Some last kind words about this venue before it closes. I've not been able to hit it that often, but they've always had interesting session beers, a range of big IPAs,and two lines of both imperial pastry stouts and some barrel-aged bangers. Dive bar ambience wedged into a small industrial building, with the brew works just behind the bar. There's a second room with more sit-down space, where D&D and other schedule gaming sessions take place. Also a schedule of live music. Food is basically a bar pizza, which I have not been able to try.

Just a very slight gush when I pop the tab, dribbling a little sticky beer on my hand. But it doesn't overflow, so we're good. Pours black, with a brief ring of foam. The foam is quickly gone; I guess the coconut has a bit of head-killing oil. Coconut in beer can go either way with me, but like quite a few heavy pastry stouts, the coconut blends in smoothly in the nose. Taste brings in equal part coconut, chocolate and a bit of milky lactose, as they promise. Thick and syrupy texture, leaves a lot of sticky residue on my lips. Really liking this beer, and glad I got a 4 pack. I'll have to check back before they close to see if they might put out some other treats.
