Deeper Amber color than a normal lager. Pillowy foam head that dwindles in a few minutes. Nose had some soft water, a bit of wheat to it, n.ot big, but pretty nice. First sip does getting in some sharp hops. A bit of sea salt, more of that slightly different water bill. Very light suggestion of tropical fruit, maybe some Belgian yeast. Couldn't do a side by side with the regular lager, but there is kind of an herbal note to it. Nice lacing all the way down. Yeah, I watch for that.

Special firkin draft. Nice, strong roast coffee in the nose. Black beer in the glass with a head of tan foam. Coffee really dominates the taste here, and then there is a nice strong blend of Porter malts to it. Very happy to have caught this. Roasty taste gets stronger as I go further down the glass.

Taster. Smell does have a bit of bourbon barrel, and catching a bit of coconut. Taste is sweet, a bit of heavy mouthfeel. Find I like coconut in beer better than by itself. And yes, some cocoa as well.
Taste is kind of different based on it's ingredients, unusual but interesting.

2005 bottle, gold wax cap. Nice boozy nose under the cap. Tawny brown color, very brief fizz. Nothing has gone off in 20 years, it's got a nice alcoholic nose, some fruitiness and strong malt, with no oxidation. Taste offers more of that strong abv, some fruity ale, and a, well, normal mouthfeel. Actually starts to get a little watery, but not enough to be a distraction.
