Gold with a frothy, white head. Grassy to herbal aroma. Taste is bitter the whole way through with a mild metallic note at the end. Body to the light side of medium, moderate carbonation, dry. Better than average pils.

Pale hazy gold with a foamy, white head. Melon mélange with a touch of strawberry. Taste is bitter to acrid over a body that’s thin for a dipa. Dry and chalky with a mild booziness at the finish. Not particularly refreshing. Drinkable but underwhelming.

Gold with a frothy, white head of modest duration. Aroma of dusty grain, grass, metal. Taste is bitter, metallic, mineral-like. Mild hints of a buttery, doughy sweetness underneath. Finishes the same, and dry, with a prickly carbonation. Thin, but not watery. No thanks, but honestly, no worse than your other average, industry Helles.

Bottle a couple weeks before the expiration date. Copper in color with a frothy, white head that soon fades. The aroma has mildly metallic overtones with grass, caramel and orange peel underneath. Taste is spot on though—crisply bitter and mildly spiced over a sweet but subtle malty base. Finishes grassy and peppery. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Middle of the road Kellerbier.

Hazy yellow with a creamy, white head. Pineapple and orange rind aroma with floral overtones. Taste is bitter, moderate citric, with porridge sweet undertones. Finishes bitter and citric with a touch of resin. Body to the full side of medium, smooth and chewy with mild to moderate carbonation. Very nice. FW does some excellent takes on the style.

Brown with a fleeting, frothy, light brown head. Aroma of molasses, butterscotch, burnt herbs. Taste is sweet up front with a mild, chili-like spice at the end. The overall taste has a certain pungency that’s not entirely inviting, although it never veers into proper unpleasantness. Medium-bodied, clingy, flawed at the finish by an unexpected watery note.
