Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#2. Still transiting through London on the way, now at the Queen's Arms near Victoria Station. Copper-amber easy bitter as it's slightly on the weak side, but its caramels in aroma and earthy tastes are just about flavoursome, so it's an enjoyable enough lower bitterness bitter.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#1. Neither a beer, nor on the Isle of Wight - transiting through London and cider boxes are sadly the best options in the excitedly named Victoria Taps, with a thoroughly disappointing draft selection. This orange-gold cider is not too bad with plenty of sweetish apple nose, but the opposite in taste with quite a bittered taste of the fruit.

Last beer before a week away sampling some less often seen ones I hope. Disappointing effort, just lager with lemon, and the fruit addition is nothing that endearing either with its bitterness removed.

On this drinking day in 1911 Frenchman Roland Garros fell out of the sky further than anyone else in history after setting the world altitude record in this plane. This one falls short a little in flavour for me, with its low strength playing a part, but has bland citrus notes. Its aroma is a bit more exciting though with a very good pine nose to the brew. Hazy yellow-gold colour.

It's a big day for DJ Mark Ronson as he turns 50 today! Golden, and I think it's the Amarillo hops that give this brew a slightly dirtier, grittier edge, making it less appealing for me in this respect in this combination. Texture is fine, aroma has light citrus.

Thought I better get this one in before the weather turns and summer is no more. Hazy yellow-gold, citrus based tropical aroma and taste. A little less flavoursome than expected but still good. Lower-end citric bitterness.

On one of the oldest streets in Todmorden next to the sunken and infant River Calder, it's a shop unit conversion a few doors along from The Fox and next door to the Hanuman restaurant. A roomy venue with the bar on the side wall towards the front and seats beyond, it provides four cask options, a plethora of keg with some preferred craft brewer options, but good choices, backed up by a fridge of cans and bottles. A nice addition to the scene in the Pennine town.

Central and popular terrace bar, and with good reason in a busy square in front of the church this pub takes its name from. It's also a beautiful timber fronted building and a lovely place to sit outside of, there's plenty of seats in good weather, although none available for me on a hot summer day, so I had to sit inside. Here, it's a worn two room affair front and back with a stage at the rear as this is a late night music bar. It has a decent keg range at the bar in the front with some changing options. They encourage you to bring your own food.
