Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#1. Neither a beer, nor on the Isle of Wight - transiting through London and cider boxes are sadly the best options in the excitedly named Victoria Taps, with a thoroughly disappointing draft selection. This orange-gold cider is not too bad with plenty of sweetish apple nose, but the opposite in taste with quite a bittered taste of the fruit.

9/6/2021. From BIAB at the Tombstone Saloon, Great Yarmouth. Pours hazy golden with a small bubbly white head. Aroma is rich, fruity, appley, apple core, touch of caramel. Moderate sweetness and light tartness. Medium body, soft carbonation. Quite drinkable.

Box @ The Abbey, Shrewsbury. Murky unclear gold. Pleasantly fruity nose. Smooth on the palate, fruity with a good fleshy apple presence, juicy, melon hints, scrumpy nods.. not bad at all.

BIAB at Strathmore Arms Cider Fesitval 2017. Hazy gold colour, afew bubbles on top, and juicy apple aroma. Taste is mellow apple, straw, caramel, slightly tart and earthy, with some hay notes. Medium bodied, low carbonation, semi-dry finish. Quite drinkable.

Handpull from the Old Bicycle Shop, Cambridge. Yellowish orange, flat, slightly cloudy. A bit of scummy head on top. Raw cider vinegar in the aroma... was not prepared for this. The taste is improved, rather pleasant actually: it’s got a decent rounded fruity tang reminiscent of the better farm ciders. The lovely bitter-sour note remains to the end of the sip. There are issues with this but it’s a pleasant enough drop.

Bag in a box at Firkin Alehouse Folkestone. Hazy orange colour lasting white bubbles. That’s alright actually. Some apple and orange aroma. Some decent dryness on the finish. Some tannin. Some sweetness. Pretty good.
