Love it when I get to taste something new. double mashed quad. new for me.
seriously dark brown with a beige to very light brown head. looks in a way a bit like a chimay, but somewhat darker.
aroma of bourbon, woods, malty notes like a barley wine, quite some dried dark fruits like a quad. fresh raisins. there might be a tiny bit of nailpolish but if there is, it is drowned out by the fresh raisins note.
flavor is sweeter than aroma, dominated by bourbon, vanilla, wood, chocolate, licorice and then only fainter dried dark fruity notes as well as brown sugar, syrup. whatever Belgian yeasty notes there might be are very subdued, i think they almost killed the quad in the process, but this stoff tastes pretty darn good anyways. a sweet, sipper with a punch, and strong notes from the bourbon BA.

subdued dank bitter hoppy aroma, traditional DIPA like bitterness, not much flower or pine or grapefruit, more dank and resiny, a bit of bitter orange. while not very juicy or refreshing it is a pretty solid aroma, the way it is bittersweet hints of high quality, leading me to think this could be a great dipa sipper.
flavor is oranges, hop bitterness, exotic fruity hop bitterness, alc can be sensed. A bit over the top bittersweet, not my favorite combo.

can, vintage 2024 batch 3209 bought at kihoskh
pitch dark, brown head that goes more toward dark brown at the lower levels. looks seriously good.
complex and rounded roasted malty aroma where nuances are balanced but all turned up 110%. aroma is mostly roasted malts, finer nuances of hints of coffee and nuts. as it warms up i get a faint note that i can't place - glue or booze or something. it's okay, it's very faint, hardly noticeable.
flavor is roasted malts, hard roasted malts in the ending. subtle notes of bitter caramel, there is some malty sweetness and some brown sugar, but most of the flavor is serioulsly strong roasted malts. If i had to guess, i would guess it's a mix of several brews, some sweeter than others - but it probably is not.
palate is super smooth and fits the beer very well
This is a very brutal imperial stout, yet it is also very balanced and well rounded. great brew.

mild malty, nutty malty, old hoppy, white dough, flowers, wet rye dough aroma.
flavor is nutty malty, slighlty herbal and slightly flowery hoppy note - sort of like an english strong bitter, the malts are balanced well by the hops and the beer feels complete, not watery or unbalanced. also reminds me of a brown ale or a classic, it has some of the good stuff from these styles. hard to place, but quite likable.

flavor is very nicely balanced with quite a lot of juicy hoppy notes, pine, grapefruits, citrus fruits, bit of fresh exotic fruits, soft water treatment and nice neutral slightly sweet malts. well balanced overall , tastes good

piney and grapefruity hoppy aroma with some herbal stinging nettle / boiled cabbage like notes too. the herbal bitterness is a distraction for me.
flavor is herbal biltter, sugar-fried-cabbage (which can get slightly cloying-sulhurish) also some good seriously bitter hoppy notes, the malts are in the background and perhaps a bit nutty. all in all i don't like this one..far too herbal. my gf did not want her share, one of her comments were rotten tomatoes and we were not talking about movies.

can from føtex
pours amber orange with a huge amber orange smooth head.
bready sweet nutte malty aroma, some harsh (sun-beer-like) bitterness, so not super rounded, but otherwise quite nice malty aroma.
flavor is very nicely malty with fainter sweet nutty notes and fainter roasted malty notes. the bitterness i disliked in the aroma is much fainter, it is still there though.

75cl bottle from føtex. as Grimbergen Triple D'Abbaye from kronenburg
clear golden, white head.
yesty flowery coriander aroma lying somewhere betweeen a sweeter blonde and a more citrussy triple. almost like they mixed the two styles. distinctly belgian style feel to it, more than most other grimbergen.
flavor is belgian yeasts, flowers, alc bitterness and a malty and fruity sweetness that seems a bit too high, compared to "real" belgian triple's. Tastes a bit industrial and one dimensional but i'd much rather this one than a random industrial beer. If you expect abbey quality tripel, you'll be somewhat dissapointed. For a Grimbergen it's really good.
