For me one proper and honest beer review is more worth than 100 ticks without any relevant content. It’s all about respect for the beer and the craftmanship behind. I will always try to do my best for a proper rating than playing the number game.

Backlog November 2009. Dark brown, almost black body under a nice, dense beige head. Aroma of dark malt, dark chocolate, moderate roasted and Christmas spices. Taste is sweet, roasted, dark malt, chocolate, hint of coffee, anise, ginger, cinnamon, clove and warming alcohol. Medium body with same aftertaste as the rest. Nice beer with a Christmas feeling.

Backlog November 2009. Reddish amber body under a big, dense beige head. Nice aroma with malt, caramel, dry fruit and a slightly acidic touch. Taste has mild roasted malt, toast, caramel, dry fruit and a balanced combination of sweetness and acidity. Fine body and pleasant aftertaste. Nice one without blowing you’re mind with flavours.

Bottle @ home. My fist beer of this rare style (Rotbier). Unclear, reddish golden body under a fine, big tan head. Arom of malt, bread and caramel. Taste is on the malty side with bread, mild caramel and a hoppy edge. Well balanced in flavours and body, surprisingly easy drinkable and a perfect march to my toast.

Can @ home. Black body under a nice, creamy beige head. Nice, quite strong aroma of chocolate, dark malt, some vanilla and hint of red berries. Taste goes in the same direction, sweet, but not sticky with chocolate, cocoa powder, dark malt, hint of vanilla, a touch of red berries (that becomes more pronounced when glasses heat ups) and some alcohol that also becomes more distinct after a while and feels almost a bit boozy in aftertaste. Fine body with a strong aftertaste. A very nice pastry stout, amazing aroma and really nice in the start served cold, but feels a bit boozy later and might have gained with a bit lower alcohol.

Backlog November 2009. Almost clear reddish golden body under a small off-white head. Aroma is acidic with oak, barnyard and funk. Taste has a nice and well made combination of malt, acidic berries, oak, caramel and funk with an alcoholic touch. Medium body with a pleasant, long lasting aftertaste. Well made and balanced.

Backlog November 2009. Unclear orange body under a dense off-white head. Aroma is unusually but I find it pleasant. Some kind of spicy with berries and cellar notes. The cellar notes become more obvious in taste, sweet malt, acidic berries, herbs, spices and yeast. Medium body with same aftertaste. Strange but interesting and nice after a few sips.

Backlog November 2009. Unclear golden body under a dense white head. Nice, fruity aroma with yeast and esters. Taste is refreshing fruity with pale malt, spices, white sugar sweetness, some citric fruits and cellar notes. Medium body with a nice aftertaste. A nice and well made version of a bier de garde.
