Deep gold, full pale malt character. Moderate bitterness. Good balance, would not mind more hop brightness.

Pale, a bit of citrus, a bit of onion. Clean, tasty IPA, as usual from Fort George.

Very pale, opaque, bubbly head. Slightly spicy hop nose, lean pale malt, a hit of citrus rind.

Pretty sure this was the one at Magnet a few months ago. Opaque, not much head. Big pasionfruit, light citrus and coconut. Good tartness, some malt, actually quite well balanced and refreshing.

Hazy and quite pale. Bubbly head. Light pine, some herbaceous hop as well…thyme and sagey things. Fairly bitter. Malt is sweet and somewhat weak but I like that hop character.

Medium brown and muddy-looking. Lots of cinnamon on the nose, chile, and a bit of chocolate. Light body, lets these flavours down…mexican chocolate is usually served very rich. So trying to do it in some 5%ish format feels like not really trying. And it isn’t mole. Mole and chocolate are two different fucking things…the usual cultural appropriation from Small Gods.

Pale, slight haze, medium head. Slightly herbal hop note. Soft malt, slightly biscuity. Lowish bitterness despite a nice hint of pine. It’s okay…the malt expression is close but not 100% there.

Hazy, pale, med head. Sort of yeasty, gloppy malts with an unusual hop character…floral and simultaneously sulphury? Not coming together for me.

Dark brown. Thin head. Excessive hazelnut aroma, seems artificial, on the palate it’s actually more a fat bourbon, lacking refinement. Damn. The base isn’t bad, light dark sugars and a touch of roast, mild hazelnut overtop, but a really heavy-handed bourbon treatment. It does all the things, and doesn’t do them badly, but doesn’t do them well either.

This is a salted caramel imperial porter. Not bad…some artificial caramel but tastes good in context with the roasty and slightly fruity base.
