Bottle - lightly hazy dark gold - nose is yeasty, spicy, moderately estery - soft carbonation - flavor is medium sweet, but then dries out him the finish, which has a moderate bitterness and lively peppery spice - light minerality - moderate fruity esters and a floral bitterness throughout that is complimented by the peppery phenols at the end - those threaten to become too much on the tail end, but avoid getting abrasive - just a tad too sweet, but otherwise a solid rendition.

Decent sized modern taproom in that charming little “under the overpass” little town square thing in downtown (if you know, you know) - pretty cast assortment of beers, about 2/3 of which are wild and sour ales - pretty much all of those have fruit additions, but they are all solid - 4 ounce pours available - they also have some lager and ipa for folks who don’t want sours - lots of bottles for sale to-go and the common Casey high prices, but the quality is undeniable - good service - no real food, but surrounded by restaurants - great little spot and Glenwood Springs is such a cute little mountain town.

Can - lightly hazy gold - soft carbonation, fill in the mouth - dry and crisp, but with a complex herbaceous profile and full earthy honey flavor without the associated sweetness, giving it a light funky note - really good.

12 ounce can - dark ruby, nearly black - nose is heavy char, maple, cinnamon, vanilla - thick, chewy mouthfeel - the maple from the barrel and the cinnamon dominate - underlying notes of caramelized sugars, treacle, dark fruit, the faintest hints of oxidation - I think there might be a pretty good barleywine hiding under there, but it’s hard to tell.

Found on tap at some random pizza place in Denver - 8 bucks a 10 ounce - viscous black pour - fairly sweet vanilla, coconut, and bourbon, with some chocolate and espresso from the malt - the barrel treatment is present but not boozy, and the sweetness is tempered fairly well - overall, it does not present as strong as it is, for which I am glad - it’s pretty darn good.

Bottle recently purchased for the HotD website - I wasn’t going to drink this beer now, but a family tragedy has me saying “fuck it” right now - I may drink this whole goddamn bottle - anyway - still hazy dark ruby - nose is deep port, rum, treacle, plum, oak, red wine, brown sugar, earthy malt, mild oxidation - slick mouthfeel - sweet port, rum, chocolate, plum, brined cherry, brown sugar, treacle - back end is lingeringly warm but not boozy - lots of oak and red wine tannins linger long past the finish - pretty tasty - I want to say I like the 2023 better, but that may just be because I have an extra bottle of that one to cellar.

Bottle recently purchased from the HotD website - still dark amber - Lots of chocolate, leather, tannic notes, deep rye whiskey on the back end - finish is deep lingering oak, red wine, treacle, light smoke - the very far end is super warming but not boozy, with notes of plum and currant - sweeter and not quite as deep as the bourbon-aged Adam, but still dang good.
