I got a 16 oz can at Total Wine the last time we were in DFW for a Texas Rangers baseball game. I have been to the brewery before, nice place, less thrilled with the beer. Let us see what they do with a hazy IPA. There is a globe glass in place and I make a pour. The body is a semi-transparent light gold with a small head of absolutely white foam. I get a scent of tropical fruit, no surprise, and sweet citrus. Right off, I will call this beer a truce between NE and WC styles and that is a good thing. I will also say it is tasty. Tangerines, grapefruit, a light hoppy bitterness, a bit of mangoes, white bread and also a small floral effect. Yes, you can call this a hazy IPA and I will say it is all right.

I located a 12 oz can at the closest HEB supermarket this past week. Stamp on the bottom says Canned 08/12/25 so there is that. A tulip glass is prepared, I make the pour. I view a totally clear, light gold body finished with a slim cover of fully white foam. The nose is slight, I get a bit of hops and then some grain. And the taste is more pronounced, fortunately. A hoppy entrance, cane sugar, white bread, oranges, mangoes, some lemon and paper. Actually, not bad. Let's see what the fairly high abv delivers later.

A pint can found in Albuquerque on our last trip to northern New Mexico. I am pleased to find a new beer from La Cumbre to rate, an infrequent event. There is my Buffalo Bayou snifter ready to receive the pour and I proceed. The appearance is an opaque gold-yellow liquid completed by a slender skim of white bubbles. The scent is strong with tropical fruit and to a much lesser degree, citrus. The taste, well, it is different. Grapefruit, hops, herbal, a bit of lime, cardboard and a bare hint of mango. A rare misfire from the brewery for me.

The series of World Wide Stouts from the brewery have generally been pretty fine. This 12 oz bottle was the best of the bunch purchased at a Total Wine in Albuquerque last month. A tulip glass ready, l pour. Glorious. Mahogany brown liquid with a here and gone skim of tan bubbles. But I do see plenty of carbonation activity and that is good. I smell coffee and chocolate, no great thrill there. So I proceed to a drink. And that is a huge improvement. Semi-sweet chocolate, coffee, wood, walnut fudge, grain, plums and hay. Decadently deep and full. Rich and boozy. Not my favorite out of the series, I’m not a fan of coffee as an adjunct, but I believe this is a high level imperial stout

First Rogue beer I’ve seen in a nearby store in a long time. Not a big loss to me necessarily, I had not been impressed previously. But this is an imperial IPA and that counts for something. My snifter acquired at Great Heights Brewing several years ago is ready to go. The 12 oz can pours nicely, I see a clear dark gold body followed by an appropriate head of absolutely white foam. And the smell is pleasant enough. Nectarines, hops and grain, a touch of sweetness perhaps. A drink ultimately and I am rather surprised. Apricots, crackers, pine, maybe some pineapple sweetness and cardboard. Bitter and sweet appear to be mostly balanced. And a nice sensation too. Good beer. But perhaps my last one from the brewery if what I'm hearing about bankruptcy and closings are accurate.

12 oz bottle from Half Time. Plenty of pumpkin and maple in the smell, not so much in the taste. Some spices, malt. Thinner than I like in an imperial stout. Lots of anticipation for this one.
