Op tap bij Brouwerslokaal, klein sample. Modderige, donkerbuine kleur, beige kraag. Ruikt flink boozy, gedroogde vruchten zoals abrikozen, rozijnen, krenten, appel, wat chocolade en praliné, al komen de adjuncts niet extreem naar voren. Laag RIS-karakter, medium body, minder dik dan verwacht.

Visited on a Thursday evening in October for dinner. Large place in an unappealing street in Groede. Despite the size of the place, it’s a huge hall, it looks cozy and efficiently decorated. Upon entering there’s an open kitchen at the right, bar with 30 taps to the left, brewery kit more to the left, and the seating area in front of the bar. There’s also an outside area with seating, but since it was storming and October we didn’t bother to get outside. So, 30 taps, some cans, tasters available. I’m not a fan of their beers, and being the designated driver I was only having their N/A options. Food-wise you could opt for small dishes to combine, or larger plates with e.g. steak or burgers. Food was tasty, but the dishes to combine were very small and too expensive (I expect to be full ordering 2 dishes for a total of €25), and the pizza’s were tiny. A Margherita for €10 seems fair, but the size was way too small, even for my 7yo kid. Ordered some extra fries, €5.50 for a small bowl was also stretching it. Service was friendly but kept on making mistakes with our orders (wrong cocktail, no cutlery (twice), no glass, wrong ice cream, wrong sum on the bill..). Despite all that, liked the place and setting, would visit again if ever again in the area to try some of their mostly high octane brews.

Visited on a Wednesday in October. Quirky place, a little out of the bustle of the extremely touristy center of Bruges. It’s a shop that sells wines and beer, but looks like a second hand / antique shop, and smells of incense. Not an extremely large collection, certainly not 450 beers, but had some nice Belgian BA stuff, Gueuzes, some stuff lying around hidden. Bought an Achel Gallant. Not exactly cheap for Belgian standards. Nice, different beer shop, not something to go out of your way for though.

33cl Blik bij Brouwerslokaal. Mistig licht goudgele kleur, witte kraag. Moutig, droog, licht hoppig, licht bloemig, iets grassig, heeft in de verte -ik zeg dit heel voorzichtig- iets van een N/A variant van XX Bitter, goed bitter. Lichte body. Aangename verrassing.

33cl Blik bij Brouwerslokaal. Troebelgele kleur, witte kraag. Zoet, fruitig, dennen, ananas, wat passievrucht, redelijk hoppig maar ook wat karton. Lichte body, dun. Niet geheel overtuigend.
