I don't really tick much nowadays. Still enjoy a decent beer just as much, along with the community that Ratebeer originally built.

I've not moved to that popular app and never will - It's become a monopoly which is having too much influence on today's craft beer scene.

I quite liked this place overall. There’s a decent terrace outside, then a lesser used, fairly bright inside area. It’s one of those places where you get a card and then tap your own beer in any volume you want. So very ticker friendly. There were a couple of the 20 taps off when I visited and another couple duplicated. Still, decent enough for a few ticks. Quality was a bit rough on some so I was super thankful of the small volumes!

Take note that although there is officially 24 taps, 4 of them are on a kegerator out on the terrace, which wasn’t in use at least when I was there.

It seemed to be an entirely local crowd when I was there, and communicating beyond a few simple words in English didn’t work. Still, it seemed like a good vibe and I enjoyed the food there for what it was - I chose some chicken tacos which certainly seemed authentic.

Nothing really special, pretty much standard beer selection with a couple of uninteresting imports. Much the same as the Jumbo nearby. From what I’ve seen the supermarkets here aren’t a very good source for picking up ticks.

Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of grain, light malt, biscuit notes, light fruity hop notes. Flavour is light sweet and bitter. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Decent!

I guess I’d better tick this one. They’ve forced a sample on me twice now at Maestro in Punta Cana and TBH it’s been the best beer I’ve had here in the Dominican Republic. But anyway, we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Here’s the review…

It’s a pretty clear golden with an off white head. Things go well when you take a sniff, grassy, dank and weedy hop character dominates with a citrus light fruity back end. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and moderate bitter. The bodies kinda light medium. Less than the NZ IPA from them.

A big place, basically next door to the famous Coco Bongo and with the Hard Rock Cafe the other side. The entrance as you see from the picture is pretty small, so it’s a hard place to just walk in to by accident given its big neighbours.

You walk in to a pretty big room, nicely done up, and at the time of writing still has a new smell about it. Supposedly they’ve only been open for a couple of months. That shows too. They’re still getting some stuff ready. No working kitchen at the moment but they say that’s coming in a couple of months. Very limited English spoken too which is less usual for a tourist area like here.

Nice place though, and friendly enough as far as the limited conversation could go. Too many big TV screens inside for my liking, but I guess a lot of people like that and it’s not so far from the US of course.

No flights, just big and bigger pours, but what I really liked was the quality. Beers were well kept and drinking well because of it. It can’t be easy maintaining 20 tap lines in a new place towards the end of the tourist season.
