440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.0%. Murky pink-ish to brown-ish colour, moderate to small off-white head. Strong aroma of Norwegian "julebrus" (Christmas soda), also notes of raspberries and blackberries, a hint of mango. The flavour is not as sweet as I feared, but not very interesting either. "Artificial" notes of said berries / fruits and julebrus, minimal bitterness. Won't buy again.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet Sandnes Kvadrat. ABV is 12.0%. Hazy orange colour, moderate white head. Aroma of malts, alcohol, dust, humid cellar and over-ripe peaches. Sweet flavour with loads of over-ripe yellow stonefruits, lactose and alcohol, some resin in the finish.

330 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Medium hazy orange to brown colour, small off-white head. Aroma of yeast, caramel, caramelized orange marmalade and piney hops. Rich and moderately sweet flavour with the same elements, medium bitter finish.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet Sandnes Kvadrat. ABV is 8.0%. Hazy / opaque yellow colour, large white head. Aroma of citrus fruits, peaches / nectarine and apricots, hints of pine and sprucetips. Fizzy mouthfeel. Medium sweet flavour of said fruits, oatmeal and lactose, hints of pine needles, low bitterness.

I anledning Cardinals 40-årsjubileum 16. mai er der brygget ikke bare ett, men TO jubileumsfatøl spesielt for dem. Begge ølene er på 5,5% (en ideell prosent for utgjæring av "folkelige" brygg som skal virke fyldige uten å bli "tunge"). Den ene er en brunlig-gylden ESB (Extra Special Bitter) i engelsk stil, fra Salamander Bryggeri i Sveio. Ved første snus på aromaen må jeg innrømme at jeg tenkte "er det for mye karamellmalt eller krystallmalt her?", men neida, smaken er meget velbalansert, med både fyldig malt og solid humlebitterhet. Og som typisk er for engelske ales, er den på sitt beste når temperaturen har fått stige litt fra den "norske" kjøleromstemperaturen.

I anledning Cardinals 40-årsjubileum 16. mai 2026 er der brygget ikke bare ett, men TO jubileumsfatøl spesielt for dem. Begge ølene er på 5,5% (en ideell prosent for utgjæring av "folkelige" brygg som skal virke fyldige uten å bli "tunge"). Det andre ølet er ganske lyst og leskende, grunnstilen er en tysk overgjæret Kölsch ("Rubin" etter rubinbryllup, som er 40-års bryllupsdag), brygget hos Brix Brygghus på Bryne, av deres tyske bryggmester. Samtidig er der nok bitterhumle her til at også IPA-folket vil bli fornøyde.

500 ml bottle, from Vaaland 1889, Bryne. ABV is 4.7%. Nearly clear brown colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of lactic acid, lemon, rhubarb and seaweed. Fizzy mouthfeel. Sour flavour, with the same elements as the aroma. Not my cup of tea.

500 ml can, as Krönleins Original Crocodile Lager Beer (klass III), from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.2%. Nearly clear and very pale golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of caramel, grass, maize and alcohol. Fizzy mouthfeel. Flavour of carapilsener malts, grassy and herbal hops, maize and alcohol.
