Bottle at home. Pours deep copper with thick, quickly disappearing head. Nose is sticky, resinous hops and sweet malts. Its taste is a nice mixture of bittersweet notes (piney hops and sweet malts) and a decent load of warming alcohol at the finish. Closes with long, warm and lingering bitterness, has medium body and soft carbo. Feels like a DIPA/strong american, but this is a nice beer nevertheless.

Bottle 0.33l from our archive, vintage 2019. Cloudy, red to copper colored. AROMA- strawberry, berries, honey, dark grapes, brandy. FLAVOR- lightly sweet, lightly bitter, lightly warming, the same as aroma, raisins, candied cherries. Fuller, syrupy body. Very good.

Not much head over muddy red-amber beer. Some oxydation (within BBd), esters & alcohol, preserved orange, cookie malts, red fruit, sangria. Quite bitter, hopbitter overlying the sweet malts. The orange here is as preserved zeste. Bitter almonds. Quite slick to viscous, really oily texture. Low carbonation. Quite good classical hoppy Barley Wine. Txs to Joren for bringing and Vera for helping!

American style barleywine (90 IBU, mind you) by what is one of the very best craft brewers of Hungary for me - looking forward to this. Membrane-lacing, yellowish egg-white, moussy, bit irregular yet dense and thick, frothy head, initially clear warm and deep, pure amber robe with coppery glow, turning misty only in the end when the sediment goes into the glass - a beautiful look for this style for sure. Intense bouquet of candied orange, preserved grapefruit peel, caramel liqueur, soggy toast, old honey, persimmon, hot olive oil, dried fig, wild cranberries, vermouth, Graham crackers, unsalted peanuts, pine resin, toasted garlic, wormwood, caramelized onion rings, chestnut wood, cognac, hint of toffee. Sweet, concentrated onset, dried fig, persimmon, fried apple peel, softish carb with very full, oily and vinous mouthfeel; full-on maltiness in the middle, layers of hard caramel, peanut, toast crust and sweet crackers, nutty and a tad toffeeish here and there, with a toasty-bitterish tail drenched in good old New World hoppiness, assuming colours of grapefruit, fried onion and pine, whilst strongly amplifying the bitterness in a long, drying, resinous finish, heated up by a glow of armagnac-like alcohol which accentuates the flavours rather than interfering with them too much. Once again my faith in this brewery proves me right: this is a classically made, but stunningly beautiful, sophisticated, elegant yet bold, rich U.S. style barleywine just like I was hoping. It has been ages since I had one of those and this Hungarian interpretation brings back sweet and cherished memories of actual American barleywines I had years ago. Text book barleywine for me, highly recommended.

Bottle (rècolte 2019, 10.5% ABV): Amber coloured, hazy to cloudy, small off-white foamy layer, solid sweet raisiny nose, caramel, wood and a certain, quite distinctive, bitterness underneath; strong sweet-bitter flavour, full bodied and as soft as possible; lingering and warming (a bit brandy-like) sweet-raisiny and herbal finish. Well balanced gravity-bomb, but unfortunately not my favourite...

Bottle picked up Bieraterie Bottleshop, Partenkirchen consumed at home Tuesday 3rd August 2021 on BeerSchool with Nat Level 2 , session 5. Pours deep reddy amber with an off white head, big malty nose, suggesting a sweetness to come. Warming, good underlying bitterness, quite soft, sherry, lots of residual sweetness, retronasal aspect include nice boozy fumes, regular sniff includes a meatiness. Very nice, caramel, supersoft mouthfeel. Like this, however whilst not aggressive boozy I can really feel the abv

Bottle. Hazy red-orange, low eggshell foam. North American style Barley Wine. Sticky sugar and caramel nose. Sugary pralines with a pleasant hop bite, citrus, heavy, melon skin, fruit salad, umami, weird but good balance.
