Hickory Stick Stout is a complex beauty. Rich, flavorful, and aromatic but not overly heavy. Roasted black and chocolate malts give this beer its dark color and robust flavors of coffee and dark chocolate. Pale and crystal malts impart a mild sweetness and caramel flavor to balance theintense roasted malts.

Pour is a near black with a large tan head. Aroma is a decent char and ashy malt with a bitter bakers chocolate in there. Flavor is a nice chocolate and coffee with a decent char left on the tongue. pretty decent stout. My bottle looks different that the pic and the alcohol is only 5% but even with the lower alcohol the flavor is still there in a big way. The burnt notes of the malt really stand out.

A dark brown stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, nice bitter chocolate with resinous floral hops, grapefruit, treacle, very nice. In mouth, a nice bitter chocolate malt with coffee grind, musty character, floral hops, grapefruit pulp, hoppy stout. On tap at Olde Hickory Station.

Bottle: Poured a black in color with a brown head. Aroma was sweet chocolate. Taste is similar with chocolate, the hops did not come through the sweetness, but gave a balance to the malts.

Draft at the brewery taproom. Pours clear brown with a creamy beige head. Rich coffee ice cream aroma with hints of dark chocolate. Light to medium sweet flavor with dark roast coffee, modest bittersweet baking cocoa, dirt. Medium bodied with fineto average carbonation. Earthy bitterness to finish with notes of baking cocoa, ash, milk chocolate. Tasty.

On tap @ Olde Hickory. Pours a clear reddish brown appearance with a tan head. Molasses and brown sugar in the nose with a bit of smoke. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Well balanced. Mild campfire smoke. Caramel, toffee, baked beans like. Smooth. Favorite here so far.

Bomber from timfoolery. It’s a wild pour. One inch of dark brown and 4+ fingers of creamy/foamy tan head. Aroma through that head is tuff, but there’s a lot of heavy dark burnt malt down below. Med body or better. Flavor is fairly smooth burnt malt with some aspects that could be bourbon or celery. Odd, but I could call it either way. There’s some chocolate, and it’s rather ashy, but it’s dry, seemingly astringent, and there’s a lot of hop bitter. Pardon while I attend to the foam creeping from the bottle. Damn nice drink. Much more flavor than many stouts. As flavorful as an IS, but in a very different, but similar, way.
