A strong and solid dark beer, the color does not come from dark malts but from the herbs. Not for the faint hearted. It's name is a reference to our brewmaster's past life as a master brewer for the Unibroue brewery (Quebec, Canada). A beer worth burning for... only for heretics.
Ingredients: Water, barley malt (pilsner, pale ale, caramel), Saaz hops, spices and aromatics (bitter orange peel, star anice, cumin, cardamone, liquorice, chili pepper, unrefined cane sugar, caramel sugar and yeast.

Bottle at De Paas. Bit hazy reddish brown with beige head. Sweet malts, sugar, plums, mint, bubblegum, light licorice, aniseed, raisins, soft grass. Medium sweet and quite bitter. Over medium bodied. Quite unusual because if all the herbal and spicy notes but not bad.

Bottle shared at De Paas. Everything looks black in this cave. With tannish head. Sweet malts, dark fruits and cinnamon and spices, and alcohol. Moderate sweet and bitter. Medium body, buttery and a bit strange.

Donker bruin bier met schuim. Smaak is kruidig, krachtig en vol met aroma, zoet en warm met iets van anijs, drop en vanille. Echt een bier om van te genieten.

14/VIII/17 - 33cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte) @ home - BB: III/2019 (2017-1214)
Clear dark brown beer, big aery irregular beige head, falls down quickly, adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: liquorish, ripe banana, soft roast, caramel, some chocolate. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: sweet start, lots of ripe banana, some chocolate, some bitter hops, soft spicy touch. Aftertaste: bit roasted, overripe banana, some chocolate, dried fruits, bitter touch, spicy, some coriander, bit dusty in the finish. I guess I'm used to much more spicy things, cause I didn't get any chillies.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown, rather small white head. Smell is weak. mild sweetness, but not like the usual type of sweetness in beer. some chocolate notes, some fruity notes, some candy Sugar. all in very fine, hidden notes. Taste is rather bitter, some dark malts, dark Sugar, dried fruits ( dades, raisins ) , some dark malts. mild boozy. Not super intense in taste. high ( to high) carbo. OK . I don’t get the anis ( Lucky me ) , I dont get the peppers but can recognize a spicy touch when I read they’re in here. I dont get cumin ( but I don’t think i know that taste ) and cardamon is not recognizable either. I like they didn’t overspice it, but if they’re gonna name it, I’d expect to taste it a touch more. Not complaining, being not much of a spice fan, just wanting to let y’all know its not an overspiced beer by far.
