A very dark brown beer, a head is medium and beige. Aroma has roastiness, chocolate, caramel. Taste has roastiness and caramel body, but not sweet at all. Medium bodied. Nicely brewed, balanced.

Can picked up from Beyond Beer webshop, Hamburg and consumed Thursday 21st August 2025, we're back sat drinking it in Frank we've seen the last 3-4 songs from Gobilove and now Kapelle Petra but now back in the campervan field in Frank as it's still lashing it down with rain at Ulm Obstwiesenfestival. Served a bit too cold (my fault), slowly warming up. Appearance in this gloomy light suggests straightforward dark brown with a mid sized light beige head. Soft mouthfeel, gentle but building roastiness, light bitterness, there's a little bit of cappuccino with some chocolate powder, caramel also. Very nice and as it's warming up it's improving more and more.

Cask handpull at Fuggles Cafe Tonbridge. Black beer. Lasting tan head. Good chocolate. Some molasses flavour. Some dry liquorice. Decent enough. OK condition. Fine

440ml can from Mitchell Wines Meadowhead - Deep black body, rocky tan head. Dark roasted chocolatey malts, bit of nuttiness, some black treacle toffee.

Foamy tan head on a near black still body.
Metallic, chocolate & rye aroma.
Medium bodied, lightly carbonated with a cloying back.
Malt, chocolate, toffee, caramel & berry tastes with a tangy hopped finish.
Good stuff.

Can. 6.5%. Mitchell’s Wines. Clear deep cola brown. Solid thick tan foam. Looks the beans. Nose has tangy vine fruit. Bit of liquorice stick. Stripped privet leaf. Yeasty and estery, as per a Union brew. Taste is semi tart and tangy with a whisper of malt sweetness. Body and drinkability belies the 6.5%. Twangy bitterness to finish. It’s mild, but not as we might expect peep holes.

Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours almost black with a small tan head and good lacing. Malts dominate what little aroma there is – plus hints of chocolate and parkin. Malts again to the fore in the mouth where there is appreciable bitterness and a creamy texture. Flavour is augmented by liquorice, molasses and cola plus traces of honey and treacle. This both decent (full flavoured and enjoyable) and also somewhat disappointing. I was expecting something really special from a combination of Thornbridge, Burton Union and my favourite beer style.
