Keg at CBC Limehouse, 23/01/16. Amber brown with a light beige head. Nose is spice, ginger, toasted brown sugar, biscuit, citric zest, splash of lemon. Taste comprises brown bread, biscuit, root ginger, lemon rind, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with hop bitterness evident. Ok take on the style.

On keg at the Hanging Bat. Appearance - deep reddish brown. Nice neat off white head. Nose - dank cellar. Taste - red fruits, more dankness and that ginger and lemon grass thing comes through on the finish. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Overall - interesting. Not a brown ale style I’ve tried before.

Keg at Mother Kelly’s. It pours hazy deep golden - amber with a medium white head. The aroma is quite zingy, ginger, malt - driven, bready, farmyard and lemony tang. The taste is dry, bitter, malt - driven, earthy, brown bread, ginger, peppery spice, lemon and hay with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A bit light and more bitter than I was expecting from the description. Not bad, but below par for Siren.

Keg at Mother Kelly’s - London. Pours murky light brown with a lasting, creamy tan head. The aroma is overwhelming ginger, maybe some lemon zest as well. Light sweet flavour with with more strong ginger, some well toasted bread, oily pine, citrus peel. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with more strong ginger - but no spicy tang - and more toasted brown bread, rind, some stir fry, lemongrass. Novel, but really not something that I want to drink in quantity. A third is more than enough.

33cl bottle from the brewery. A murky amber pour with a ring of cream head; sweet fruity aroma with a hint of root ginger; quite zingy in the mouth with lemon and a gingery heat; then rather lacking in finish with a watery, gingery ending.
