Bottle shared by Tom, thanks! Pours near black with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has dark grains and bourbon with a touch of bitter roast supporting. Flavor has earthy dark grains, earthy roast and a bit of bourbon booze backing.

Located Barrel-Aged Legion at a Total Wine in Ft. Worth, TX over Thanksgiving. I got it in a four pack of 12 oz bottles, all stamped 10/25/17 (I think), a yellow cap on each. The first cooled bottle is poured into my go-to imperial stout glass from Buffalo Bayou. It shows a dark chocolate brown accompanied by a wisp of foam that gathers around the edge of the glass. I take a whiff and get malt, black licorice, hard candy. I have a drink. Quite nice but then I am a fan of imperial stouts in almost any case. There is tobacco, baking chocolate, scorched toast, a caramel sweetness and something boozy. A slight burn and a good finishing bitterness, it sticks around. The other three bottles are now very much appreciated. Community delivers again.

Bottle at home from blutt59. Opaque black no head. Nose is molasses and chocolate. Tastes of chocolate, licorice, molasses, coffee, and barrel aging is subdued but pleasant vanilla wood. Relatively unsweet some bitterness

Poured from a 12 oz bottle. Aroma has lots of chocolate and roast with some light bourbon and oak notes. Hints of caramel, dark fruit and tobacco. Some light alcohol spice. Pours black with a medium small, medium thick, mocha head that has a reddish tinge and recedes fairly quickly to the edges where it lingers. Light lacing and moderate length legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with a lot of chocolate flavors. Some lighter roast notes. Medium light dark fruit notes with plums and prunes. Light oak and bourbon notes. A bit of caramel and raisin. Medium bitterness. Hints of tobacco and almonds. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty decent imperial stout. Nice, balanced bourbon, chocolate and roast notes. Some nice fruit, nut and caramel notes as well.

Bottle. Pours black, small dark head. Smell is roasty, with coffee and oaty aspects. Taste is very nice ! Intense dark malts, good amount of bourbon, still balanced however. Rather thick body, not as silky as my top favorites, but definatly above average here. Perfect carbo. Hints of bitterness as well. Mild wood-flavors. All and all, this beer does nothing not tasted before, and it isnβt the new top-favorite. But if this were a shelf beer to me ? Iβd buy it regularly !

Bottle. Pours opaque black, small dark brown head, dissipates fairly quickly, decent lacing. Aroma is molasses, burnt malt, anise. Flavor is light plus sweet, light plus bitter, roasty with a bit of smoke, oak, molasses and anise. Not a lot of barrel presence here. Medium body, a bit of tannic acidity. Fits pretty squarely in the "good not great" category.

12 oz. bottle, brought by Jason to Ale Alpharetta. Pours hazy brown, with a small, bubbly, tan head. The nose is strong whiskey notes of vanilla and oak, with some caramel, cinnamon, and chocolate pudding. Flavor is very sweet and boozy, with a nice, subtle bitterness. Very heavy body, creamy, thick, and fairly will carbonated. This is a pretty well made, balanced, and smooth stout. Love the heavy barrel character that still doesnβt overwhelm the tasty base beer.
