No 38. "A mint julep is not the product of a formula - it is ceremony, and must be performed by a gentleman possessing a true sense of artistic, a deep reverence for the ingredients, and a proper appreciation of the occasion. It is a rite that must not be entrusted to a novice, a statistician, nor a Yankee."
- Henry Clay
Dang it! We were in there till the Yankee caveat. Pucker up, Buttercup!

2016, huge thanks Brandt for sharing with us! Clearish shiny amber body, off-white head. Caramel, low vanilla and heaps, HEAPS of dried figs, with a remarkable amount of spearmint. Lean, dry, fresh taste, lemon and spearmint, very dried out, not much barrel, but this was nice, bit funky. And still holding up nicely!

Tap at the brewery, July 2016. Pours hazy orange amber with a small beige head. Aroma: spearmint, citrus, bread, light bourbon, hint of oak. Taste: dry, bittersweet, light tart, spearmint, citrus, light bourbon and light oak. Medium body with light carbonation. Interesting, tasty

Clear gold beer, decent pale cream colour head. Palate is light and reasonably smooth, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. A light malt base imparts a little sweetness, just enough to stop this one wandering into acid territory. A nice melange of tart fruits, fair bit of lemon but it's a little like the sour candy sweet lemon. The spearmint sits well back but enhances nicely. The bourbon sits so far back it's hard to pick out, just about detectable on the light and dry finish. Long tart fruity linger. A well crafted affair, pretty drinkable for a non sour lover, drinks well below it's 8.9% too. A nice palate cleanser.

Bottle at home. Golden with white head. Slightly tart with citrus, juniper and mint. A bit of toothpaste. Would probably be great without the mint.

Mooch tasting at Matt's
Cloudy golden color. Aroma of mint ice cream and nettles. Very dry mouthfeel, mild sourness, a bit creamy, light mint, some celery and vegetables, astringent final.
Weird, but not saying bad.

12 oz. bottle, sent from wchesser (thanks a lot, Will!), pours a hazy amber golden with a small beige head. Aroma is loaded with spearmint, followed by light bourbon. Flavour is dominated by the spearmint, leaving little else to be discerned. Why would you do this? The mint destroys this. Not too good.
