IPA - Imperial / Double Regular
Score
7.20
ABV: 8.4% IBU: - Ticks: 14
Hops: Centennial, Amarillo, Simcoe.

A blast from the past Imperial / West Coast style IPA. Massive aroma hopping and an intensely bitter hop profile all balanced with a caramel sweetness from a touch of crystal malt. This imperial IPA is heavily hopped in the kettle, whirlpool and dry-hopped with Centennial (dynaboost and hyperboost), Amarillo and Simcoe hyperboost (at 16g/l).

On tap at Habitat. Quite malty, in a pleasant way. Bread crust, caramel. Piney, grassy, almost herbal hops. Gentle bitterness. Decent. 646413 260806

Keg at Shilling, Glasgow. It pours clear deep amber with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is sweaty, pissy, orange marmalade, peach, apricot, nectarine, heady booze, candy and toffee. the taste is dry, subdued bitterness, heavy malt, woody, toothy, chewy, crystallised sugars, fruit loaf, warming booze, wood, leather and spice with a short, dry finish. Medium+ body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. I had expected more depth. Booze is well hidden.

Can. Near clear amber beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Light palate, smooth, mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation on the back end. Light malts, touches of creamy sweetness and caramel. Trad West Coast peely citrus, pleasingly bright and juicy here. Orange, mandarin and tangerine. Cooling pine and a very mild hop spice nip on the close. A fairly bright and breezy West Coaster. Goes down with great ease!

440ml can @ Benzai's Anti-Carnival Valentine's Day Tasting, Feb 26. Porus a slightly unclear amber, pure white head. Lovely, not creamy as expected from the name.. just a nice hoppy West Coast with an accompanying malty sweet base and a nod to more exotic climes hop-wise.

Can shared at Anti-Carnavalstasting 2026. Darker orange color, average sized white to off-white head. Aroma and flavor is malts, hops, but the hop seems off in a way. Hard to describe. Unfresh. No, not a fan.

Appearance is clear amber, with a beige foamy head. Aroma is raisiny malt, orange, citrus fruit, fruitcake, marmalade. Taste is orangey hops, sweet fruit, malt, marmalade, bitter hops and some malt in the background. Tasty old-fashioned affair.
