Craig on Heat Tasting at ChrisO’s. Opaque dark brown beer, good pale cream colour head. Airy light palate, semi dry, modest carbonation. Tangy malts with just a little dark chocolate. Light dry malt cream. Light tangy finish with a mild cocoa linger. All right if a tad one dimensional.

Bottle shared at chriso’s - picked up in Mexico. Pours black-brown with a creamy, beige head. Pleasant mocha aroma, milk chocolate, mellow roast. Medium sweet flavor with plenty of milk chocolate, mellow char, burnt earth, bread, dried out dark fruits. Medium bodied with fine carbonation and oily carbonation. Sweet finish with further charry roast, balanced chocolate, scorched earth. Pretty solid overall, really. Drinks well for the strength. Nothing wrong here.

Dark opaque black color, small brownish head. Licorice and chocolate in the light. Medium-bodied. Licoricey, coffeish, but a bit simple with short finish. Not bad for being from Mexico.

Bottled@PBF VIII. More or less black colour with a beigeish brown foamy head. Aroma is dry dark fruits, liquorice, mild alcohol along with some slight toasted notes. Flavour is liquorice with some caramel, plum pudding as well as some slight alcohol to it.

330ml bottle @ PBF 2013

Pours pitch black with a brown head. Aroma of grainy roasted malts, hints of cocoa and dark chocolate. Taste is roasty, grainy and chocolatey with notes of cocoa. Finish is smooth and malty with some grainy notes. A bit stuffy and unbalanced.

33 cl bottle @ PBF VIII
Aroma feels quite artifical with sugary notes, malt, butter and hints of cocoa. Flavour has butter, malty notes, some cocoa and hints of gooseberry bush. Quite light and straightforward for this style – and ABV.

Bottle. Pours pitch black opaque with a small brown head and decent lacing. Aroma is sweet coffee and chocolate, with an initial fading buttery note. Taste is quite satisfying coffee and chocolate, no real alcohol notes present. Rich and full bodied. Quite a good beer actually, and easily the best beer I had in Mexico.
