150 ml. draft @ De Proeverij. Deep copper, tanned head. Nose is metals & sweet cough syrup, a bit thin & iron-like. Taste is strongly herbal, very sweet cough syrup, iron tasting, candy, sweet Christmas spices, lightly soapy,… Body is a bit thin, iron-like with some cough syrup. Rather odd & a bit hard to drink but acceptable for a Belgian of its kind.

Bottle. Hazy light brown with big beige head. Sweet malts with some stone fruits, cream and light milk chocolate. Light sweet with slightly chemical bitter finish. Medium bodied. Ok

33cl Bottle from Prik&Tik Pauwels. Deep reddish brown colour, beige head. Aroma of cinnamon, ginger, chocolate, dark fruits, it’s nice but somehow seems off as well, like a starting infection. Flavour is medium sweet, raisins, light roasted malts, cinnamon, ginger, ground cloves, hint of coffee, bittersweet finish with some light-tart dark fruits. Medium-bodied at best. Nice dubbel.

Dark counterpart of Kempisch Vuur Tripel, with a deep bronze colour and thick beige head. Aroma malty, coriander, chocolate, ginger, cinnamon; full malty taste, dried fruits, spicy like most of this range (ginger, cinnamon), Tomahawk hop bitterness in the finish along with roasted bitterness - which I have nothing against, it’s just that they are used too commonly in dark Belgians nowadays, especially by the small brewers.

Donker bier met juiste bittere rook smaak, blijft redelijk lang hangen. Kruidige smaak.

DobryDubbel Belgijski. Biszkoptowo-daktylowy aromat. W smaku porto z suszona sliwka. Gleboko ciemno brazowy kolor piwa i niewielka pianka, ale za to kremowej konsystencji. Tresciwe piwo i solidne.

33 cl bottle @ Gastropub Tuulensuu, BBE 28.06.2013
Aroma is sweet with brown sugar, dark fruits and hints of apricot. Flavour has lots of apricot, orange peel, some brown sugar and dark fruits. Warming alcohol in the finish. A bit too sweet but decent anyway.

33cl from Willems en Zoon. BB 27/06/2014.
