A Big Boozy Blonde was brewed with a boatload of oats, giving it a creamy sweet mouthfeel with a hoppy blast. It’s like a powdered sugar donut topped with deliciously dank resinous hops. Chow down!

Whoa, what a powerhouse! Aroma is rich malt and hop, but doesn’t really prepare you for the flavor smack. Which is intensely bittersweet. Not much sign of alcohol.

Bottle big thanks to Fergus at the 2016 Cotteridge Convention. It pours clear orange – amber with a medium white head. The aroma is fresh, grassy, herbal, dank, orange peel, floral, lemongrass and tropical fruits. The taste is crisp, bitter, peppery spice, straw, cereal, grass, light danky herbal notes, florals and orange peel with a dry, slightly spiced finish. Medium body and moderate. Interesting and rather enjoyable.

Pinebox Rock Shop, Brooklyn tap: pours light copper with white head. Aroma is tropical fruits and resin and grapefruit. Taste is juicy, fruity and quite resinous. Not too bitter. Pretty smooth drinking. Nice hoppy and bitter aftertaste. Good.

Draught at Armsby, 1/30/16.
Rocky, off-white head shows moderate to strong retention atop a copper-golden body that is clear.
Hugely spicy hops are joined by dry citrus (lemonpeel, orange rind), light pine and earthier, dank hop notes. Alcoholic, of course, since it’s Lagunitas, with some sourness/toasted character from the malts but otherwise fairly sniffable.
Sweet (too much so), lightly syrupy, though with a bracing bitterness that more than balances. Boozy, resinous, spicy and such on the finish with no finesse, of course. More like a barleywine than anything and just another Lagunitas beer that tastes more or less like every other lagunitas beer. No character, just lots of hops, malt and alcohol. Are Stone and Lagunitas the same brewery???! Could be.

Bottle shared during RBWG 2016. Pours clear orange-gold with a creamy white head. Lots of ripe orange, papaya, melon, pine. Medium sweet flavor with juicy tangerine, melon, tangerine, mango, mild piney bitterness. Full bodied with average carbonation. Resinous and warming to finish, more pine, mango, nectarine. Good stuff.
