Big, bold, black, and aged in bourbon barrels with coffee beans. The lengthy conditioning period in the barrels creates a silky smooth chocolatey mouth feel enhanced by the use of oats and brown sugar. Noticeable sweetness gets balanced by roasted malt and hop bitterness. Additional flavors include bourbon, vanilla, and oak.

Bottle at De Garde. Pours a pitch black color with a small white head. A big coffee and huge smoky nose, roast. The flavor is super sweet roast, licorice, smoke, vanilla. A slick palate. Quite good. Comes in big and yet is drinkable.

Bottle at Jacks a Slapper tasting, thanks to LKS, 12/05/14. Cola black with a moderate tan covering that clears to a swirl. Nose carries a big coffee load, dark chocolate, spice, light roastings. Taste comprises much the same, coffee less intense than on the nose, coffee grinds well evident, roast malt, light vanilla, dark chocolate. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid coffee fuelled porter.

Tasting at Bruceβs pad. Thanks to Leighton. Almost opaque dark brown beer, bubbly pale tan head. Palate is airy and light. Little fine carbonation. Mild dark malts, nice touches of vanilla and chocolate. Little spice. The coffee is fairly mellow. Light finish with more alcohol spice.

Bottle, big thanks to Leighton . It pours near black with a thin beige head. The nose is rich, sweet, coffee, brown sugar, treacle, candy and more milky candy. The taste is bitter-sweet, toasty, candy, roast, milk, candy, coffee frappe, rocky road and sugar with a dry, sweet finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A bit sweet and thin for my liking. A bit more body and this could have been a lot better.

Bottle shared in London - picked up from the brewery. Pours deep brown, clear, with a creamy beige head. The nose has a bit of espresso, dark bread, cocoa, slight toasted wood. Medium sweet flavor with rich cafe con leche, a bit of espresso, milk chocolate, raisins. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes sweet with more rich coffee, milk chocolate, rich bread, mild alcohol boost. Definitely a solid coffee/ cocoa beer.

Bottle with thanks to Reynolds314! Pours opaque black with a nice small creamy tan head that dissipates slowly and laces well. Aroma is not overpowering, notes of coffee, roasted malts, a bit of ashtray, some bourbon. Flavor is boozier than the nose - bourbon prominent, some oak, nice chocolate and roasty coffee notes as well. Light to medium sweetness, medium bitterness and some acidity from the coffee as well the time in wood. Full, creamy body. A bit hot due to ABV. Gets a bit bitter with time as you drink it.
