750ml split with Anndiesel. Another mellow, sublime, enjoyable Ephemere from Unibroue...it had been awhile. Unfiltered orange-tan body, steady foamy white head. Not overbearing with the pear at all, comes off pretty mellow, almost natural. Nothing about the flavor really stands out, but the overall mouthfeel and enjoyability of this works for me. Solid, safe offering.

Apparently it’s a fruit beer day here at the Helsdon residence. And frankly Unibroue you’ve got a tough competition after Bellwoods Cherrified Farmageddon soured saison. (Beer nerd heaven.) But really I like what Unibroue produces. It’s the only Macro’s Micro Brewery that brews with a passion. But enough extemporizing. To the beer. Pours a cloudy golden with a thick white head. I’m getting bready yeast spice, pear, a touch of citrus and some cereal. The taste is dominated by pear, mildly sweet with a cereal flavour to the malt, and some decent yeast that really gets lost. It’s a fruit beer, it says as much on the label, but it really lacks subtlety that you can barely taste behind all the fruit. But it’s good for what it is.

Bottle: Poured a light amber color ale with large off-white foamy head with good retention and light lacing notes. Aroma of pear juice is pretty dominant with light cereal notes. Taste is dominated by sweet pear juice with light cereal notes. Usual Unibroue yeast ester is not as detectable as usual. Body is about average with god carbonation. Not something I would necessarily seek often but enjoyable nonetheless.

A hazed golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet fruity herbaceous malt with light pear, Unibroue yeast, cotton candy, pear juice, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with light pear juice, candy sugar, light bodied, OK. Bottle from GRM. Puhskinwow’s Big Deck tasting.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a murky apricot color with a small foamy white head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was musty, almost smoky, dusty and had a hint of perfume. The flavor was tangy, malty, woody with a touch of smoke, pear and strong perfume. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Odd.

750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, best before 4/24/2017. Pours lightly hazy bright golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big pear, apple, white grape, orange peel, light banana, coriander, clove, light pepper, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big pear, apple, white grape, orange peel, light banana, coriander, clove, light pepper, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate earthy spiciness and slight wheat/yeast tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of pear, apple, white grape, orange peel, light banana, coriander, clove, light pepper, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and robustness of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is a damn nice fruited witbier style. Overall great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours hazy orange gold with a slight white head. Aroma seemed cooked malt and fruit at first, then shifted to banana and light spice. Near full bodied. Flavor is very, very fresh pear (though not extremely strong), moving on to some malt, banana and mild spice. But fresh pear with every quaff. Great.
