An early German ale, this full-bodied Düsseldorf style exhibits a rich mahogany color. Special malts imported from Munich lend an authentic malty note to this exceptional brew.

As Woodruff Alt: A reddish copper alt with a thin ligt mocha head. In aroma, a nice grainy malt with light peppery notes. In mouth, a grassy nutty malt with light German hops, so-so. On tap at Knoxville Brewer’s Jam, Oct. 22 2011.

Pours a clear copper with an average sized, eggshell white head. Mild malt and hop aroma. The flavor is ever so slightly sweet with a soft, yet firm hop bitterness. The hops in this one provide much more bitterness than aroma or flavor with the bitterness lasting through the long, dry finish. I don’t know much about Alts as a style, but this easily fit the description of a German made equivalent of an English Ale. This keg was provided to the Brew Crew at a recent beer festival and I got to try one that I wouldn’t normally spend much time on. Not a bad beer.

Amber colour with a thin white head. Light aroma of english hops with a decent balance of malt. Medium to Light-bodied; The taste shows a bit of sweetness with some english hops and a balance of malt. Aftertaste shows some decent malt characteristics, but fairly subtle. Overall a decent beer, not an true 'alt' though! I had this on draught at the brewpub in Knoxville, Tennessee on 27-September-2003.
