In my point of view, this edition is good, decent hop, between an IPA and a Pils, aromatic hop, the bitterness is staying a long time, 03.01.19, at Epalinges.

Bottle picked up from Appel Getrankemarkt Moosburg and consumed at home Christmas Eve, Sunday 24th December 2023 listening to Grian Chatten - Chaos for the Fly. Cooking Turkey Wellington with Delias Red Cabbage, Sprouts in Blankets, Tom Kerridges Potato, Jamie Olivers Stuffing, Raymond Blanc Celeriac Puree, Loz's gravy, Hasselback Carrots and finally Loz's Parmesan Parsnips. Pours clear gold with a fast disappearing white head. Soft in mouth, tangy fruit, measured but prolonged bitterness, good hoppiness. Nice beer.

Hell golden, leicht trüb im Glas. Süß fruchtig, sehr hopfiger Geruch mit minimalem Honigeinschlag. Wuchtig. Riecht schwer nach IPA, wenn nicht sogar Imperial IPA (was es bei nur 4,8 % Alk nicht ist). Der Eindruck relativiert sich aber sofort beim ersten Schluck. Eher leichter, süffiger Charakter. Die Süße und Fruchtnoten rücken deutlich zurück, Honig ist nicht zu erschmecken. Eher florale bis leicht harzige Nuancen dominieren. Etwas Grapefruit, Zitronenschale und Mandarine schwingt auch mit (wie fast immer, wenn es aus der Pale Ale Ecke kommt). Die Hopfung mit 8 Sorten des grünen Goldes liefert natürlich auch sehr starke Bitternoten, die allerdings nie penetrant werden. Die reichliche, extrem feinperlige Kohlensäure gibt dem Ganzen fast etwas sektartiges. Das Glas ist extrem schnell geleert. Getrunken im Oktober 2023. Von irgendeiner Edition oder Jahreszahl war auf dem Etikett nix zu lesen. Wie andere aktuelle Bewerter auch trage ich meine Rezension unter der letzten Variante „Waldhaus Hopfensturm Edition 2016 (1516)“ ein.

# 3863; 9/2023. As Waldhaus Hopfensturm Selection (2023 version?; BB 07/24). Strong floral and herbal aroma, mint, zesty, light grainy. Clear straw body; white head. Herbal, zesty, malty, floral. Well, interesting and very good german hops golden ale. 0,33 l, bottle, Getränkemarkt, Reutlingen, Swabia, Germany. Hallertauer-Perle, Hallertauer-Tradition, Hallertauer-Cascade, Tettnanger-Mittelfrüh, Tettnang-Tettnanger, Tettnang-Hallertauer, Spal-Spalter, Spalt-Hllertauer.

0,33 l bottle from Zisch, Wildeshausen. BB 01/23, so obviously not the 2016 version. :-) Clear golden, one finger white head. Intensive floral and citrus hoppy smell. Taste is more pale grainy with citrus and floral hop. Mid dry bitterness, little bit cardboard. Getting thinner in the end.

Long expired. Probably the 2020 edition since that’s when I picked it up, but no year listed on the label. Gold with a frothy, white head that lingers. Aroma of flowers, pears and candy. Taste is mildly bitter the whole way through. Medium-bodied, clean crisp finish. For a hoppy beer, it’s held up well. Pleasant.

Waldhaus Hopfensturm Selection, Fläschchen von Ambrosetti. - Satt goldgelb, klar; üppiger Schaum. - Nase ungewöhnlich duftig und fein hellmalzig-kandissüß, läßt an ein belgisches Tripel denken, dazu elegante, zart blumige und blaß zitronige Hopfung. - Antrunk leicht und duftig kandissüßlich-hellmalzig mit feiner, trocken grasig-zitrusfruchtiger und blumiger Hopfenherbe, die etwas leicht Parfümiertes hat, wie ein gutes belgisches Blondes. Milder rezent, vollmundig. Im Abgang wieder das elegante Zusammenspiel von blumigen und blaß zitrusfruchtigen Hopfenaromen. - Unter einem Hopfensturm hatte ich mir ein kraftvoll-knackig gehopftes Bier vorgestellt, aber dies ist eine ausgesprochen elegante Affäre, sehr individuell aber nicht aufdringlich gehopft, von moderater Bittere und subtiler obergäriger Eleganz. Bottle 33 cl. What a messy entry - this 2020 edition seems to have no home on Ratebeer, but I'll add it here. Pours a pale yellow with a slight haze and a white head. Distinct and rather sophisticated hop aroma, although far from the new breed dryhopped hazy IPAs. Different but in a good way. Medium body, sweet malty and fruity, with the distinct hop notes througout. Not overly bitter finish though. Interesting. 270820
