With clear notes of espresso, dark chocolate and a hint of authentic Icelandic coffee, this Porter is dark and rich, offering a medium body that is robust, yet smooth on the palate and easy to drink. There’s no need to be afraid of the dark anymore.

330 ml bottle. Pours unclear dark brown, almost black with medium sized beige coloured head. Dark chocolate, espresso, burnt malt, toffee, ashes, dried fruits and liquorice. Light malty sweetness with a bitter finish, very balanced taste. Soft carbonated, slick and oily texture, full bodied. Light alcoholic warmth. Bitter and long lasting aftertaste. Intense and very smooth Porter.

On tap at Trails End Taproom. Pours black, with a medium, bubbly, tan head. Mild coffee nose, with some pumpernickel, black pepper, and toast. Sweet and roasted, with a sharp, pleasant bitterness. Medium to heavy body, with a sharp, lightly acidic, and chewy mouthfeel. This is a big and toasty beer, but well balanced.

Bottle. A- Woody, smoke, dark fruits, toasted vanilla, subtle coffee. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Char, wood, smoke, toasted marshmallow, dark fruits, roasty, mild bitterness, subtle espresso. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, complex finish. O- For almost 2 years old, I figured this might lose it's luster. Sure enough, it was good as all get out. Starts out with sweet dark fruits and some wood notes, then fades into some char and smoked earthy notes, and finally finishes with some toasted marshmallow as it warms. Really good stuff.

Aus der Flasche im 2015-01 getrunken. Schönes, aber auch einfaches Porter! Keine große Aromadichte aber dadurch recht süffig!
