12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 1/14/2015. Pours crystal clear nearly opaque dark brown color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, light coffee, caramel, toast, brown sugar, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and herbal/spice earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with balanced dark/roasted malt, pumpkin, and spice notes; with solid strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, light coffee, toast, caramel, brown sugar, biscuit, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and herbal/spice earthiness. Light earthy spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, light coffee, caramel, toast, brown sugar, pumpkin, cinnamon, allspice, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity and solid robustness of dark/roasted malt, pumpkin, and spice flavors; with a great malt/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice pumpkin porter. Good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, pumpkin, and spice flavors; and very smooth to drink. I felt like the malt flavors should have been a bit more robust at 7%, but it was nicely enjoyable otherwise.

Tap at Tipsy Cow. Opaque brown black body, thin patchy beige head. Smooth and classic. I’d guess around 8%. Chocolate merges effortlessly with the pumpkin pie spices, vanilla edged. Easy going yet full bodied. Pretty expert execution. Well done.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance has a dark brown closer to black colored body with a half finger white foamy head that quickly dies and leaves light lacing.
The smell has pumpkin up front in this one with some nice roasted cinnamon and barley, burnt sugar makes somewhat of a presence and there’s a little bit of chocolate underneath more so once the beer warms.
The taste is mainly sweet through the previously mentioned flavors with a roasted barley aftertaste, and a dry finish.
On the palate, it sits about a medium, and is somewhat sessionable. Carbonation is good for the style and for me.
Overall, I really enjoyed how the pumpkin flavor and the other \"pumpkin\" flavorings played a part in the combination of this beer, to make this and put it in an American Porter was an excellent idea. I would definitely get this again and most likely seek it as a \"dessert\" beer.

Bamberg Bash Day 2. Cafe Abseits tasting. Almost clear deep amber beer, small pale tan head. Crisp palate, light minerals. Good pumpkin fruits and nice, not overdone mellow spices. All in good balance with the mild dark malts. Finishes crisp and semi dry.

Bottle: Dark brown pour with auburn edges. A finger of tan head dissipates quickly to leave a shiny surface. Nose is rather modest with spices, just a little nutmeg and cloves, light roast, and a doppelbock type sweetness. The taste emphasizes on porter, light roast and minimal sweetness. The pumpkin elements are faint and overshadowed by the sweetness of the brew. Must be the brown sugar. Picking up some faint yeast, but it works well with the cloves, roast, and overall sweetness of the beer. Cloves and yeast become more prevalent as it warms. Perhaps a little thin on the body. Overall an interesting beer.
