Crisp and ever so slightly hazy golden coloured body with a nice, rich three to four centimetre tall tan head that covers the beer nicely! Aroma of grass, very piney and resinous hops that show a PNW slant along with a nice alpha acid bitterness and a good deal of floral notes towards the end, with a nice balance of malts as well and a tiny bit of sweetness noticeable in the nose - perhaps from honey? Medium-bodied; Very hop-forward, grassy and herbal flavours show way up front with a lot of bitterness, but a good deal of malts coupled with the hops for a good balance and a rich quality, especially at the end. Aftertaste is very hoppy with a nice bitterness, a good herbal and piney bite along with the sweetness that comes out at the very end that brings a touch of flowers too - very nice throughout and especially at the end. Overall, a well-balanced, fairly West Coastie IPA with a lot of old school bitterness and qualities with a good balance, not much sweetness and a robust quality throughout. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint pour on draught at Mason Social [restaurant] in [old town] Alexandria, Virginia on 05-March-2022 for my Wife's Birthday in interruption of my month-without-alcohol, Happy Birthday Amanda, with all my kids as well for US$7,00. 8,4,8,3,15

Undated can A: Thickly murky dark dull orange pour with 1/4 of beige foam. Good retention and thick lace. S: Malty caramel and toffee scent with no discernible hop notes. Maybe a hint of orange. A chemical note. Acetone. T: OK so there's some hops here in the form of bitter citrus pith. Orange, grapefruit and lemon-lime notes present alongside a malty wall of toasted bread. Moderate sweetness provides some balance. M: Thick texture, average carbonation and a fairly dry finish. O: Looks unappealing, smells old and stale but tastes fairly decent. Unknown has finally started dating their sixpack carriers but still not the cans. Baby steps but still unacceptable.

Sample at Barley's Taproom & Pizzeria. Hazy copper-orange color with a medium thick off-white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Strings of lace. Aroma of piney hops, fruit and malt. Medium body with flavors of resiny hops, grapefruit and bready malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a piney hop aftertaste. Decent overall.

Pour is a murky orange with a large white head. Aroma is a caramel malt with a pine hop, ho-hum. Flavor is more of the same, although not as sweet as I thought it would be. Some pine hop and a chewy malt follows. About as average as a IPA can be.

From a 12 oz can. Pours a clear copper with a generous off white head. Spicy aroma. Flavors of mandarin orange. Bitter finish.

Before getting into the beer itself, I love the branding. The Unknown logo is very cool, this can is a matte gun metal color and is very cool. Pours a dark orange, nearing on brown, with some foamy, white head. Nose has citrus, orange, a little blood orange, some soap, lemon tea. Flavor has lemon tea, orange, a little lemon lime soda, some caramel malts, a little dried herbs. Full bodied, bitter and lightly tannic on the finish.

Can sample @ Troy’s Bday tasting @ Stein & Vine. Thanks Jason.

An orange amber ipa with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with good floral hops, grapefruit pulp, classic. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with loads of citrusy floral hops, grapefruit pulp, smooth and quaffable. On tap at brewery.

12 ounce can from Whole Foods Tunnel Road Asheville. Appears to be dated March 2014 though I bought it two days ago. Pours a hazy copper with a large frothy off-white head. Good head retention. Aroma of earthy, piney hops. The taste is bitter earthy, resiny hops, caramel malt. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness. Solid.
