Keg at the Hippo Taproom. Dark gold and almost clear. Sharp kumquat and overripe orange peel aroma with a biscuit base and a hint of vegetal sour. Bittersweet, fruity and intense taste. Bitterness lingering on the the weighty finish. Maybe this lacks the character of many of Salopian’s better brews, but not the intensity.

Bottle from Beer Gonzo. Murky amber body with lots of yeast flecks floating beneath a medium off-white head. Steady carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of honey, dried grass, lime and toffee. Flavour of apricot, tangy orange and peach. Medium body with an oily texture. Light fizz. Pretty good, but it doesn’t hit the heights of my favourite Salopian beers (Catatonic, Polygraph and Oracle, to name a few).

330 ml bottle, bb 08/2017.
Amber, hazy body, with a big, creamy, lacing, off-white head.
Aroma of grapefruit, lime, orange, flowers, grass, some tropical fruits, biscuit, subtle soap.
Tastes quite similar, with more citric notes, lemon candy.
Medium, a bit creamy mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation.
Finishes medium bitter, zesty, citric, floral, grassy, subtly piney.
Very nice. Quite straight, smooth, with a lot of different citrus fruits notes. Alcohol is completely hidden, drinks pretty easy. Not outstanding maybe, but enjoyable.

Bottle at Deanso’s last THT. Bit hazy darker golden with white head. Lots of pineapple, mango, light herbs, sweet malts, light apple juice, some sweet berries. There’s some malts and alcohol but not as much as you’d expect for the abv. Medium sweet and bitter. Bit over medium bodied.

Bottle at home, 26/12/16. Hazed golden orange with a well appointed off white head of bubbles. Nose is citric sherbets, tangerine, melon, straw, brioche, toasted malts, lemon meringue. Taste comprises orange pith, grapefruit, light mango, soft bread, apricot, light spice, cantaloupe melon, big orange squash vein pulsing throughout. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a decent dose of hop bitterness. Decent enough mellow DIPA, drinks below the ABV, well balanced but maybe just a touch 1D and lacking a bit of oomph for me to ride higher in the style tier.

3rd November 2016
Hazy gold beer, good off white head. Palate is smooth and semi dry and has decent fine carbonation. Fluffy malts. Fair bit of milky sweetness. Pine and a little orange peel. Modest hop spice. Light finish. It’s an okay beer but for me a massive disappointment from Salopian, was expecting something much better than this.
