basement aromas, the aroma is an intense dark sweet sugary mess. Notes of raisins, sherry, candied cherries, and quite alot of candi sugar. The mouth feel is fine, and the carb is a tad low. Thw finish is low on the bitterness scale, with a mineral sweet raisin and dark candied plum blast. Quite interesting.

Bottle: Poured a dark brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet Belgian malt with light caramel notes and some dry fruits clearly identifiable. Taste is also dominated by light sweet caramelized malt notes with some dry fruits notes easily noticeable. Body is about average for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Interesting but not necessarily something I would seek on a regular basis.

Pours a rich amber colour with a big frothy warm-beige head that is foamy, still coming out of the bottle. Fruity raisin nose at first, with eventual sweet malt, apples and grassy hops. The taste has the raisins, but is quite mild. More metallic hops and then, soft prunes and apples. A little roasted malts come out in the finish. Decent overall, but not one I would have again (not my style).

Bottle from Star Grocery in Berkeley, CA. Pours very dark orange copper with no significant head. Interesting aroma - which suggests inhaling a freshly opened box of raisins. Med minus body. Flavor is darkish malt, and darkish raisin. Might be some other fruits too. This ale is pointed in a nice direction, but it seems light (tho quite dark). Nice drink, but it seems it could have been more.

Bottle from the LCBO served in a wine glass, deep amber red with a filmy beige head. A malty sweet, brown sugar, molasses, raisins & light spice. Medium-full bodied with a round carbonation. The taste is malty, well balanced, a bit boozy, candy sugar + raisins.

(bottle) clear reddish brown colour colour with a small brown head; faint aroma of brown sugar, dried fruit; mostly dry, light flavour with a long light bitter finish; not that interesting

Clear brown, and a crazy bunch of light tan head on the pour. Nose of malts and fruits, but I suspect that head blocked a lot, even after I’ve waited as long as I can (delayed reward? bah! humbug!) The taste is fruit, scotch, raisin, vanilla, caramel malts. Lots going on here. I like it, but I can see how some people might not.

Pours copper with a quickly fading head.Nose shows bready malt with melanoidin and golden syrup notes too. A faint savoury note too.Similar flavours, very malty and moreish. More bready and raisin notes. Long lasting finish.Could use more carbonation, almost flat at the moment.
