Brewed as a traditional India Pale Ale. A highly hopped, medium-bodied, higher alcohol ale. This is a true hop-head beer. Generous portions of Northern Brewer, Centennial and Cascade hops complete this beer.

Can at RBWG 2014. Pours a clear orange with a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has notes of earthy pine and a bit of onion with a grain backbone. Flavor starts with earthy grains but grows to have pine and grassy hop notes.

Can. Pours cloudy golden amber with a medium white creamy head and great lacing. Aroma is pine, caramel, cat piss. Flavor is the same, piney, light sweet, medium bitter with a bitter finish. Medium body, creamy mouth feel. Not a great example of the style.

Tap at Hollander Hotel Tap Room, St Petersburg. It pours clear amber with a medium white head. The nose is bitter-sweet, pine, caramel, toffee and light farmyard. The taste is earthy, bitter pine, grass, caramel, resinous, light spice and some alcohol warmth with a dry, bitter finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. Decent balance. Pretty nice all-round.

500mL can, bonus'd from LateStart (thanks Jordan), pours a cloudy orange with a medium beige head. Aroma is fully of juicy citrusy hops, caramel malt and some tropical fruity quality. Flavour is quite bitter, with loads of bitter juicy citrus hops, some citrus rinds, and just enough biscuity, caramel malt backbone. Quite astringent, but in a pleasant way, leaving a bitter, fruity hoppy finish. Surprisingly excellent IPA - certainly better than the average rating suggests.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours deep golden with small white head. Little lacing, medium/light body, light resinous texture, light carbonation, and light grapefruit aroma. Taste is grapefruit and finishes long pine. Not a fan.

I had this at Seventh Sun in Dunedin. Let me tell you, from the start I now know why its called old elephant foot. It really does have an aroma that reminds moe of the elephants at the pittsburgh zoo. A dark looking pale ale. $6 for a big giant glass. The aroma, as stated is farmy manure and earthy, but in a good intruiging way. Extremely hoppy, borders on double IPA territory. Creamy head and the palate is flat. Big bitter linger and i swear the old elephant aroma carries over to the flavor. Finish is over the top
