Pitch, pitch black coloured body with a deep thick brown head, about three centimetres tall. Aroma of roasted malt, alcohol, tons of fruits, prunes, plums, coffee and quite a bit of star anise. Full-bodied; Strong roasty flavour with a bunch of meaty flavours, soy sauce, a bit of earth and caramel and a bit of nutty tastes. Aftertaste shows quite a bit of alcohol, roasted malt, coffee, prunes, raisins and pitted fruits. Overall, a nice, fairly complex and pungent imperial stout - complete with a great body and a nice finish. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 11-March-2012 for US$10.55 sampled at home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 19-January-2013.

This beer pours black with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Full-bodied and smooth with a roasty character of coffee and chocolate malt, with some piney hops in the background. The finish is dark chocolate mocha with a bit of licorice and hops in the aftertaste. Good Stout all around.

22 waxed ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle date but it is not going matter. Pours thick black color with a nice 1 finger dense tan head with great retention that reduces to a thin lacing cap. Some decent lacing clings to the glass as well. Aromas of big toasted malt, chocolate, caramel, molasses, spicy hops, and bitter coffee. Some nice and well balanced aromas. Taste of big dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, caramel, light charcoal, and a bit of spicy hops. Fair amount of coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, charcoal, and caramel on the finish for a while. Great balance of flavors. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a nice creamy, slick, and fairly thick mouthfeel that goes down fairly easily. Pretty easy to drink, but it is still a sipper. Overall this is an outstanding imperial stout, and one of the more roasty ones I have had. Fantastic stuff here, glad I picked this up randomly in MD.
