Our Winter IPA is bold and assertive for those cold winter months. Powder Hound has just the right amount of warmth with a generous dose of hops.

On Firkin tap at The Front Door Boise, Pours out a amber topped with a sand head. Aroma light malt. Tast more of the malt a touch hops for the bitterness. Not bad but not a strong winter ale.

12 oz. bottle enjoyed with my brother in law. This was part of a mixed 12 pack of Big Sky beers. Pour is amber, clear, with a light tan head. Aroma of caramel, some biscuity malt. The hops are fairly muted, been lend a bit of spice and earthiness. Taste is a mirror of the nose, caramel malt, a bit roasted and the hops near the end to spice things up a bit. Overall decent, though not terribly interesting. I was a bit surprised to see this listed as an English Strong.

Pours a crystal clear amber with nice off white head. The aroma is rich roasted malts, mild piney to grapefruit hops and sweet malts. All well melded and inviting. I also get some grainy malts too. The taste begins with mild pine to grapefruit hop bitterness followed by chewy caramelized malts and some sweeter maltiness. Roasty malts seem to build some toward the finish. Nice offering.

Aroma is dark, bready malt, with barely detectable hop. Mahogany color with an off-white head that did a bit of lacing. Near medium in body with creamy carbonation. Touch of apricot! Dark roasted caramel, nutty, and apricot flavor and aroma. Lots of malt, but not all that sweet. The finish is somewhat dry after the sweetness drains away, leaving roasted malt remnants, still a bit of apricot, and maybe thatβs floral hop? A little bitter does seem to build, but British hops? Notorious flowery things. This is a little "brown", a bit rough, but the flavors make it a fairly decent drink. Glad I bought it.

Bottle. Dark amber brown beer with a beige head. Rich malt, light roast, light spice aroma. Caramel malt and citrus hop flavor with some spice. Nice balance. Lingering malt with a bit of citrus bitterness. Just enough bitterness. Easy drinking.

Potent caramely, toasty aroma with earthy, bitter hops. Deep copper body, fairly clear, with a medium tight light tan head. Herbal body with sweet caramel and bread, light carbonation, reminding me of a sweetened iced tea. A few sips reveal classic dark fruits (cherry, plum, red grape) and nuts lurking beneath the initial toast and caramels. Vinous. The parts are all here but they donβt quite come together. Nevertheless, this is decent fare.

Nice brown, rusty pour with a ample off-white head. Flavor is well balanced maltiness, caramels, nuts, and a roasty feel. Finish is smooth and the body is rather rich. A solid seasonal from Big Sky.

Malt and caramel aromas. Very dark orange with a head that lasts. More malt and caramel in the taste. Seems like an English strong without being ruined by alcohol flavors.
