An abundance of hops and malt are added to our IPA to create and preserve its distinctive flavors. Not only do we use generous portions of hops in the kettle, but we also dry hop this ale for one week after fermentation. The dry hopping process adds to this beer's floral and citrus aroma. This is truly a tasty adult beverage!

Needed a clean beer before I left Beer Zombies. Clear, classic MGD pour. Temporarily stuffed up stinky sulfur, dry bitter hop bite nose. Spiced hops, earthy, a little bitey, bright citrus rind finish. Thin & crispy. Kinda good.

Aroma is fairly hop forward with a good grapefruit and pine resin aroma along with a bit of a sweeter citrus note and lemon. light cracker malt aroma to balance out the hops. Pours a fairly clear golden orange with a thick white head that has good retention. Good lacing. Flavor is fairly malt forward at the beginning with lots of cracker and a faint sweet caramel note. Mid palate the hops and bitterness hits along with the hop flavor. Hop flavor is grapefruit and pine resin with a light orange note. Bitterness is moderately strong and lingers in the finish with a hint of alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Finish is a bit sticky but fairly dry. Overall, a good clean IPA but the style has moved towards a more hop forward profile, especially in the aroma. I also prefer IPAs that are drier than this one.

Draught at the brewpub
Aroma is fruity with resin and some hops. Flavour has fruits, some resin, mango and floral notes. Moderate hop bite in the finish. Refreshing and not too sweet. Some similarities with Pliny the Elder, but this one is less aggressive.

Half pint draft at the brew up in Santa Rosa, California. The pour is a lightly hazed golden copper with a small off white head. The aroma is bright hop, an interesting mix of floral, citrus fruit, pine and light resin. Much more subdued and delicate versus the Row 2 Hill 56 (I tried them side by side) but crazy fresh as well. The taste veers more towards the pineapple citrus fruit of the hops, along with a hint of pine, and light resin character. The toasted malt provides a nice backbone to the experience. The palate is medium to light bodied, gentle cleansing carbonation and a nice resinous dry finish. Also a great IPA, these folks know how to use hops.

Tap at RR Brewpub. It pours orange-amber, with a thin white head. The nose is leaf, grass, pine, resin and some citrus. The taste is grass, hay, pine, resin, astringency, leaf, leather and raw hop, with a long bitter-dry finish. Medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Nice, but I would prefer some fruit to balance out the flavour.

Draught @ City Beer, San Francisco, CA

Pours light orange with a smooth white head. Aroma has notes of fruity hops, malts and citrus. Taste is quite fruity with citrusy hops, pine and grass notes. Finish is slightly bitter and tingly. Well balanced, tasty IPA. Not as overly hoppy as Blind Pig, but more balanced.

Draught at Russian River Brewery. Copper with a bit of lace. Earthy caramel flavor, big bitterness, not much hop aroma though, less than the Blind Pig. Clean, old school IPA nose, very fruity. Good stuff, though not too special.
