A neo-lambic ale that goes through both a yeast and bacteria fermentation and is then aged on oak chips and 400 pounds of Delaware peaches. This beer is very tart and complex. It is bottle-conditioned in champagne bottles.

Dogfish Head is proud to let you know that Festina Lente was awarded a bronze medal in the Belgian-style Sour Ale category at the 2006 Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado.

This beer is no longer in production, but is still available randomly in limited quanities in the Vintage Beer Coolers at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and Dogfish Head Alehouse in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy orange-golden color with a small yellow-white head. The aroma was tart, tangy and had a sour peach element. The flavor was sour, tart and surprisingly dry with an odd peach like presence. A bit thin in the body. This one was ok but did not do a whole lot for me.

Thanks to RealityDeviant from BA for hooking me up with this. Hazy light orange body with a thin white head. Sweet, but sour fruit aroma. Sweet, but tart fruit flavor, some peach hints.

(Bottle 75 cl) Pours a hazy pilsener golden with a tiny, off-white head. Distinct tartness in the aroma with some bon-bon-like sweetness. Rather light body with sourish, citrusy notes - like viamin pills soaked in water. Ends the way it started with a distinct, citrusy sourness. 030606

Hazy gold, with no head and no carbonation. Tart peach aroma, smelled really sour. Very sour flavor with a hint of the peaches and a tiny bit of hops detectable in the finish.

Whitish head gone after seconds, clear gold with copper shine. Strange meaty-fruity-estery nose, like fruit and (Bock)sausages from a tin. Faint Brett? Fruitish, sourish taste with a pinch of wheat, acetic and lactic acid, metallic - but neither iron nor copper. Slightly slick refreshing & titillating MF. Nice but not blow-over. It’s a bit timid, if I dare to use that word about a Calagione beer.

An unclear orange beer with a disappearing beige head. The flavor is sour like grapefruit and so is the flavor. Good for an American go at a lambic.

Well, we all know the story behind this one. I sampled two bottles, the first from Eric way back in December 2003 and the next, purchased in September 2003 at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York. Peachy, apricoty aroma with some tart scents and nothing else. Light-bodied with absolutely no carbonation. Aftertaste shows sugars, fruits and nothing else. Overall, if the beer developed carbonation, body and real character, then we might be talking. All the bottles were 75 cL.

Draught at Belgian Beer Fest. Deep rusty/peach color, orange-yellow quite transluscent and thick looking. No head. Aroma has some acidic citrus notes, sour peaches, tart and estery. Definitely detect the dry oaky notes as well. Flavor starts out lightly sour, waning in to the peach flavor which is not overdone and not sweet like Lindemans pecheresse. No carbonation, but that’s quite fine with me, no need for it really. The sourness is fairly shortlived, and after the peach flavors, most of the body is finished. Light wood notes linger, some residual sugar. Medium-light bodied, quick finishing. What is impressive is that this is an American made lambic. I give DFH a lot of credit for producing this.
