(Bottle, In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 1 March 2014) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of chocolate, caramel, dark bread and coffee. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, chocolate, cocoa and piney hops in a fairly bitter finish. Medium body, quite dry. Feels more like a porter than a black IPA, but it’s tasty and well balanced. Nice one.

Almost black with big full beige head. Massive fruity hops (mango, pineapple, citrus) piny, some roasted malts, coffee, liquorice. Mainly bitter with some sweetness in the middle. Medium bodied, bit lite feel. Love it.

Bottle thanks to long-lost Josh. It pours darkest brown with a small tan head. The nose is roasted malt, pine, toast, dried fruit and dark chocolate. The taste is cocoa, roasty, toast, earth, rocky road, pine and dried fruit with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Very nice cocoa character to it. Pretty tasty stuff.

Bottle at the pre Bamberg tune up in the Sham, big thanks to Kenny, 23/01/14. Extremely dark mahogony brown with a big old light tan head that retains well. Nose is light roast, pine, bitter orange, tropical fruit tones, earthy hop resonance. Taste comprises bitter hops, light roast, earthy cocoa, pine resin, red grapefruit, scorched malt, toasty. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying closure with earthy hop bitterness. Solid CDA !

Pre Bamberg bash tasting at Colin’s house with Mr Bois and James. Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is airy and mildly crisp. Mellow dark malts. Hops are mildly skunky and piney with.a whisper of citrus. Light smooth finish. Mild bitter linger. Good stuff.

33 cl bottle @ home. Black color. Big light beige head, with thin layer retention. Aroma’s: resin, light roast, a bit of butter. Retronasal its’ resinous, citrussy, a bit acidic, drop/licorice and light butter. Flavor is light roasted, light bitter. Light bodied. Finishes roasted, bitter only on the back of the tongue, rather mild. Definitely room for improvement.
