Clear deep red copper colour, good foamy tan head, good retention, good lacing. Sweet roasty malt aroma, brown sugar, caramel, dough. Smooth medium sweet taste, plum/raisins and syrup undertones. Medium body, creamy texture, well balanced sweetbitter finish, slightly cough syrup sensation and spicy notes (cloves, nutmeg). Retasted 271015.

Pre Borefts supermarket bench tasting (why open so late guys ? 3 middle aged men abandoned in a town centre chugg rating macro’s - I ask you !), Bodegraven NL, from that there supermarket in Bodegraven 28/09/13. Dark amber with a moderately appointed light beige head. Nose is a thinnish mix of bready malts, cake mix, toffee, dark fruit. Taste comprises sweet bread dough, toffee, light fruit. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Very so so but better than the Heinekin offering.

Bottle from Albert Heijn. Poured a clear reddish brown colour with a thin and rapidly disappearing white head. The flavour is rather distinctive and somewhat sweet with raisins and malt and a slightly bitter aftertaste. It’s an ok Bok bier with some flavour. Not a classic and maybe too sweet for some but hardly deserving of some of the ultra low ratings I see here. I can’t say it would be my first choice upon walking into a bar, but if I had to drink it all night it wouldn’t kill me either :-)
