In our continual quest for new, high quality, unique barrels, the barrel gods delivered: Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr.® Seasoned Wood Bourbon barrels. The headlining brand from the Buffalo Trace® Distillery, and a cornerstone of American whiskey history, this particular batch takes the specialized treatment of it's staves to a new level, with over 12 months of curation and multiple different processes. The wheated bourbon is then aged for 10+ years in these expertly crafted barrels, and then Bottled-In-Bond (thus 100 proof). Pair that with Eclipse, and wow.

Thick-set rusty-cream head over jet-black beer. Rich, Bourbon, vanilla, alcohol & fusels' nose, filthily rich, I'd say. Sweet-spicy-peppery-roasted. Roasted bitterness behind, mild. Thick and viscous, alcoholheat, long lasting flavours. Very good edition of the Eclipse.

Sampled from bottle at CBF Vienna 2018. Clear, very dark brown to black with a thin, frothy, beige head. Sweetish-malty, moderately roasty and slightly woody aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, honey and oak. Very sweet, malty, moderately roasty, slightly woody taste of dark chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, some oak and a touch of sherry, followed by a long, moderately roasty-bitter, rather warming, gently woody, just a little boozy finish. Medium to full body, almost oily mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Lovely!

Bottle shared at Lucky Bamboo share. Thanks Nathan! Pours a deep brown with a finger of beige foam that lingers. Lots of dark fruit, plum, raisin, chocolate and bourbon aromas. Smooth on the palate, with bourbon notes, vanilla and light oak flavors. Bourbon lingers on the finish with some dark fruit and cacao nib.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle. Aroma is full of dark fruit notes with lots of raisin, prune, date and cherry. Some chocolate and lighter roast and toffee notes with some light bourbon and oak. Pours black with a medium large to large, thick light mocha head that slowly recedes. Light lacing and moderate length legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with chocolate, toffee, dark caramel and light honey notes. Hints of roast as well. Medium bitterness. Some moderate raisin, cherry, fig and date notes. Light oak and bourbon. A hint of a vanilla note. Mouthfeel is full bodied and slightly creamy with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent Eclipse but I feel like the dark fruit notes are a bit too strong. As it warms the fruit recedes a but but it's still not as strong in the chocolate malt category as I prefer.

Klasse!
