A session IPA collaboration with our friends from CR/AK brewery in Italy. Claudio and Marco joined us a few weeks back to discuss our love of hops and our shared belief in drinkability. With this is mind we brewed a ‘baby’ IPA with a healthy proportion of oats for a baby smooth body and a small quantity of Cascade in bittering. The beer was then hopped in the whirpool and dry hop with Amarillo, Mosaic & Citra Cryo Hops™ Lupulin Powder for mouthfuls of juicy flavour. We then fermented the beer with London Ale III, for a complimentary fruity aroma and moreish finish.

Can. Hazy orange - amber beer, tidy cream colour head. Palate is airy, semi dry and has reasonable fine carbonation. Light malts, smooth and modestly sweet. Light cooling pine hops, modest fresh orange and orange peel. Mild hop spice. Semi dry finish. Pleasant and drinkable but give me a proper IPA anyday.

500ml can. Hazy golden colour with a small white head. Aroma: tropical fruits, grapefruit, mango. Taste: grapefruit, mango, orange, malt. Light bitterness. Medium body and carbonation. A little stronger than a typical session IPA but loads of flavour and still easy drinking.

Can shared in Hackney - cheers! Pours clear gold with a creamy, white head. The nose holds melon, a little dank pine, tangerine. Light sweet flavour with some pleasant pale bread, hay, pithy grapefruit, papaya. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Nicely balanced finish, more pale bread, tangerine, mild rindy bitterness. Very drinkable.

Tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Hazy light amber color, frothy foam. Nose: slightly malty, hops pellets a bit, oily hops. Mouth: by far too rich imo for a session although tasty, malty, nice feel of fresh hops, tasty.

Can from Cork & Cask. Hazy golden body with a lasting off-white head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of flower stems and candied grapefruit peel. Flavour of kiwi fruit, rice cake and grass. Thin to medium body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. In the context of Magic Rock’s amazing recent releases (Wayniac, Half Cut, Human Canonball 2017) I was a bit underwhelmed by this. It’s still a decent beer, but lacks the hoppy punch I’ve come to associate with this brewery’s output.
