Keg at the Waterloo Tap, 03/02/17. Lightly hazed pale pink with a grubby off white head. Nose is light citric peel, faint pink berry, spice, earthy, light wood, spice. Taste comprises light yeast esters, straw, light spice, subtle fennel, red berry must, damp hay. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light spice and herbal qualities. Decent saison … better than expected, pretty subtle with the novelty ingredients leaving a decent base beer.

Brew By Numbers with Leighton. Keg. Light haze on this pinky - peach beer, small pale peach head. Palate is light, dry and crisp. Nice mellow beetroot, none of the sharp tang from the fresh stuff! Mild fennel blends in well, just that light licorice vibe. Mild spice. Light dry finish. Could have been a disaster but it’s well nuanced and interesting.

Keg @ Tilt, Brum. Pours hazed pink. Aroma of red berry sweets. Taste is soft red berries, distinctly lacking in expected earthy herbal notes. Had to double check I had the right beer. Very mild saison funk, but again mostly getting soft red berries with little of the fennel coming through.

Keg at the brewery taproom. Pours clearish pink with a frothy, white head. The aroma has some vague berries, impressions of beets, pale bread. Light sweet flavour with more berry bites, faint tang, mellow yeast, some earthy beets. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Decent balance in the finish, more earthy beets, subtle berry notes, understated saison yeast. Enjoyable, though somewhat as a novelty.
