On tap at Altstadthof, pours a clear dark amber with a medium beige head. Aroma is full of plums, toasted nuts, and bready caramel. Flavour is malty, with plenty of plum, bready caramel, toffee, and toasted nuts. Nice malty depth, with red fruits on the finish. Good stuff.

On tap at the brewpub. Amber coloured, small off-white head, dried fruits and caramel in the nose. Sweet malty, caramel, dried fruits and touch of honey with rather sweet finish. No trace of alcohol but still a way too sweet.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 5B). Draft @ Hausbrauerei Altstadthof. AROMA: mild sweet malty background with caramel notes. clean with no esters. APPEARANCE: Brown color with ruby highlights and somewhat clear. average ivory head with good retention. TASTE: sweet malt flavour with caramelized notes and some faint dark fruits flavours. low bitterness with a semi-sweet finish. PALATE: medium-low body with low carbonation. OVERALL: a decent traditional bock.

On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown in the glass, nice head. Mild aroma. Starts milder than exspected, fine malty, roasty. Light sweetish notes with some herbs. Finish still mildy, fruity hint of apricot. Okay.

On tap at the brewery in Nuremberg. Dark red haxy beer thick beige head. Sweet. Like the rot and the weisse rot this lasting strawberry jam flavour is dominant. Ok. But too sweet.

Vom Faß im Altstadhof, Nürnberg. - Dunkles Kupferrot.
